Chapter 381 Negotiation
They hooked up right on this desk.
Raymond's Adam's apple bobbed a couple of times, not really getting why she had such a strong pull on him.
He lowered his lashes, tossed his phone aside, and didn't bother replying.
Selena didn't expect a response. She started buttoning her shirt, one button at a time.
But even buttoned up, it couldn't hide the hickeys on her neck.
He had really gone overboard last night.
Selena checked her phone and saw a bunch of missed calls.
Raymond had already deleted the record of Bert's call. Besides the missed calls, there were texts from Bert saying he had kidnapped Lucas.
She called back, and Bert answered with a string of curses.
"You bitch, who knows whose bed you were in last night. If you don't come, we're gonna beat your husband to death!"
Then he put the phone in front of Lucas.
Lucas was barely conscious, couldn't say a word. Bert slapped him hard.
"Speak! Tell her to come save you!"
Selena wanted to talk, but her voice was shot from moaning out of pain last night.
It really hurt.
There was even a row of teeth marks on her lips, made by herself.
Compared to their first time, Raymond was even rougher this time.
Bert said savagely, "If you're not here today, I'll send you a few of his fingers!"
The call ended abruptly.
Selena felt a wave of anxiety.
As she left the room, she ran into the cleaning lady, who gave her a surprised look. Seeing the mess on the bed, the cleaning lady immediately got it.
Selena felt a wave of embarrassment.
She knew life didn't always reward effort. Many people couldn't find direction despite trying hard, or were just worn out from their efforts.
But she never thought she, who always prided herself on her hard work to earn her bread, would resort to such a dirty deal that looked like prostitution.
In the elevator, she felt exhausted and in pain.
Thinking about how Raymond hadn't used a condom last night, she bought emergency contraception and took the pills without hesitation.
Back in the car, she had already composed herself.
She sent Raymond a message: [Can you send me the info to take down Bert?]
She waited in the car for an hour, but Raymond didn't reply.
She hadn't had breakfast yet and was feeling dizzy from hunger.
She drove to a busy breakfast spot, ate, and still hadn't heard back from Raymond.
Selena sent another message, just a question mark.
Raymond couldn't possibly sleep with her and then refuse to pay up.
That didn't seem like something he would do.
Selena took a deep breath, swallowed her embarrassment and sent another text.
Selena: [Wasn't this our agreement?]
After another half hour, Raymond finally replied: [Not ten times yet.]
Shortly after, he sent another message: [Nine to go.]
Selena swallowed, feeling her throat ache.
She never expected Raymond to be so meticulous.
Her fingers trembled as she typed another message: [Then where are we meeting tonight?]
Raymond replied: [I'm not in the mood every night.]
Otherwise, it would be over in ten days, and that would be too easy for her.
Raymond looked at his phone, feeling irritable.
In the evening, he attended several meetings. When he came out of the conference room and entered his office, he saw Selena waiting inside.
Her face was a bit pale, but her eyes were calm as if last night hadn't left any ripples in her heart.
Raymond slowly sat down, giving her a once-over.
She had a silk scarf wrapped around her neck; so many hickeys couldn't be hidden by clothes.
Especially in this weather, wearing a turtleneck would look odd.
Selena said, "I won't back out of the remaining nine times. Can you give me Bert's info first?"
She was in a hurry, but he wasn't at all. So she had lost the fairness in this negotiation from the start.
