Chapter 1468 Forever Missing Each Other
Emilio replied, "Alright, Selena, I'll keep an eye on him."
He sat on the couch, looking surprisingly well-behaved.
Selena had already gone upstairs, holding Raymond's phone. She had gone through most of it; the new phone didn't have much extra content.
Finally, she opened the notes app.
There were a few entries written by Raymond.
[Can't find the central island, could it be on the inner island?]
[Could it be on the outer island too? Where exactly is it?]
[I shouldn't have let her come in with me.]
It was clear he was talking about Selena.
Selena's lips curled slightly. Raymond didn't have her contact information, so he could only vent in his notes.
She sighed in relief and continued scrolling, but then she reached the last entry.
[How could she be dead? Selena wouldn't die, and she wouldn't go missing.]
Selena suddenly stood up, her brow furrowed.
Someone had told Raymond that something had happened to her?
And just now, someone had called her, saying that Raymond had made another choice, one that might prevent him from being with her.
If the news about her was false, then what about the call she just received?
She clutched the phone, feeling a headache coming on, but she couldn't make sense of it.
Just then, she heard Emilio's voice from outside.
"Selena, it's raining outside. That guy named Mario is playing in the mud in the yard, refusing to come in, and he won't listen to me."
Selena immediately went downstairs and headed to Mario.
Sure enough, Mario was still squatting, poking at an anthill with his finger.
"Mario, come inside and get out of the rain."
His hands were covered in mud, and he was kneading the dirt on the ground, shaping it like dough.
"Selena, eat."
He held up a lump of dirt in front of Selena.
Selena looked into his innocent eyes, feeling a wave of helplessness.
She couldn't hit him, and she couldn't scold him; after all, he was just a simpleton.
She brushed off the dirt. "Let's go inside first."
"Okay."
They walked a bit towards the house when Mario suddenly stopped, touching his head.
"Selena, I remembered something."
"What is it?"
"The people in the fighting arena were very fierce. I killed a lot of people, and animals too."
Selena's steps halted, her brow furrowing. "You really see yourself as Raymond now?"
He was completely out of it now, but why did he end up believing he was Raymond, of all people?
"What? I don't know what you're talking about. I want to go home." Mario suddenly became agitated, clutching his head with both hands. "I want to go home."
Selena closed the living room door to prevent him from going back out into the rain.
"Emilio, take him to rest and give him some cold medicine."
Emilio stood nearby, nodding slightly.
Selena watched Mario's back until they disappeared, then found a place to sit down.
Mario was indeed Mario, but why did he identify with Raymond? Was it because of some special treatment he received at the mental hospital?
She took out her own phone, but there were still no calls from Raymond.
If he was still on the central island, he should have seen the message she left.
So many people on the central island knew him, yet no one knew his whereabouts.
And that ambiguous phone call kept making her feel like she was being watched.
She and Raymond weren't sharing information. If there were people around them deliberately spreading false news, they would keep missing each other.
