Chapter 216 Raymond Has a Fever
Raymond was feeling hot, so he unbuttoned a few buttons, but it didn't help much.
This sensation was all too familiar, and even the wound on his back started to burn.
Thinking about the tea he had with William earlier, his forehead veins bulged, and his whole body felt like it was on fire.
He headed to the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face.
But the heat wouldn't go away.
Looking up, he stared at himself in the mirror.
He caught a familiar scent in the bathroom, not unpleasant, different from the perfume of the woman at the hotel.
Raymond was a bit of a neat freak and hated sharing bathrooms—too dirty.
But now, he didn't feel any discomfort, just hotter and hotter.
William's trick this time was tough to guard against. Probably because of the last punishment, William no longer believed he and Selena could get along. Plus, who knew whose call triggered him today, so he followed them to Ashbourne Manor.
Raymond rubbed his temples and glanced at the items on the sink.
There was only a simple facial cleanser.
The bathroom was spotless, not a drop of water stain.
Raymond lowered his eyelashes, walked out of the bathroom, and saw the motionless lump on the bed. He sneered and sat back down on the single sofa.
He definitely wouldn't touch the bed.
But the heat was becoming unbearable, especially with that familiar scent in the room, making it even harder to endure.
"What kind of incense did you put in the room?" he asked, his voice hoarse.
Selena heard this and frowned.
She didn't like those things and never used them.
At this moment, she was curled up in the blanket, fearing Raymond would come over and lift it.
But Raymond just asked and didn't want to talk to her.
He closed his eyes, trying to alleviate the discomfort in his body.
But the heat rushed to his head, combined with the burning pain on his back, making his vision blurry.
After a long time, Selena quietly reached out a hand, turned off the lights in the room, then moved the blanket aside, looking for Raymond's shadow.
Raymond leaned back on the single sofa, shirt open, slightly reclining.
Selena hadn't forgotten the wound on his back. Even with medication, it wouldn't heal quickly.
Now he sat there silently, making her worry if something was wrong with the wound.
"Raymond?" she called out.
But Raymond didn't respond.
Even without getting close, Selena could feel the heat radiating from him.
She walked closer to check, but saw he still hadn't opened his eyes.
She placed her hand on his forehead, almost pulling it back from the heat.
Raymond had a fever?
Selena was very anxious and called out again, "Raymond?"
He must be delirious from the fever.
Selena quickly walked to the door and knocked.
"Fiona, open the door, Raymond has a fever."
At this moment, William had already left, instructing Fiona not to let anyone out no matter what.
But Fiona hadn't expected Raymond to have a fever.
She quickly took out the key, and as soon as she opened the door, she felt a wave of heat from inside.
Selena helped Raymond up, a bit anxious.
"Fiona, help me."
Fiona went to get the driver and told Selena.
"Mr.William Montague gave Raymond some kind of drug."
Hearing this, Selena felt a headache. William had just whipped him, and the wounds hadn't healed yet, and now he gave Raymond that kind of drug. He really didn't care if Raymond lived or died.
The driver and Selena worked together to get him into the car and took him to the hospital.
Given the wound on Raymond's back, Selena could only sit beside him, holding him steady so he wouldn't lean back.
They arrived at the hospital, and the doctor took him into the ward.
Selena waited outside for a while and then called William, saying Raymond had a fever.
Unexpectedly, William wasn't worried at all.
"He won't die. He used to be in the military; he's in good shape. Selena, you can take care of him in the hospital and get to know him better. I already know you two didn't sleep together. It's got to be Raymond's fault. Anyway, if you feel wronged, you can tell me. My granddaughter-in-law can only be you."
These words left Selena speechless.
Raymond's fever was severe. After an antipyretic injection and an IV drip, the doctor also treated the wound on his back.
"Are you family? Someone needs to stay here. When the IV is done, remove the needle."
Naturally, Selena stayed.
She felt quite sorry for Raymond.
After all, their engagement not only made him break up with his beloved woman but also caused him physical pain.
