Chapter 375 Interested
"Just you wait!"
Steven and Victoria grabbed their bags and took off in a hurry with the children.
Selena plopped down on the sofa, motioning for the maid to disinfect everything, then called the gate security. "Don't let them in next time, or you're out of a job."
The security had let them in because of Beatrice's orders.
But now, every servant sensed that things were about to change in the Fair family.
"Got it, Miss Fair."
Selena picked up Max from Rose Garden, where he was feeling out of place. With Ashbourne Manor now empty, Max could stay there.
The villa got disinfected, and Beatrice and Alice's stuff was sold off. Nick's house was also sold, with the money going to James.
But that cash was peanuts compared to the $1.4 billion debt the Fair family was drowning in. Thinking about Raymond's deal made Selena's blood boil.
The next afternoon, William called her. "Selena, your dad used to fill me in on the Fair family's situation now and then. Haven't heard from him lately. Is he still not doing well?"
Selena couldn't spill the beans about the Fair family's mess.
That was 1.4 billion dollars.
If William found out, he'd definitely cough up the money. But he'd make her pay a price.
For example, he'd probably say, "Selena, you have to stay with Raymond forever, no divorce."
If she took William's $1.4 billion and then signed a divorce agreement with Raymond, what would that be?
It would be nothing short of fraud.
William was the best person to her in the Montague family, and she couldn't do that to him.
She lowered her lashes. "Everything's fine. I just told my dad not to bug you all the time."
The Fair family and the Montague family were from two different worlds. As long as one side didn't pry, they'd never cross paths in this lifetime.
William blurted out, "How are you and Raymond doing lately?"
Selena said untruthfully, "Pretty good."
Raymond wanted to sleep with her, which was a good sign.
She smirked to herself, but her tone stayed cool.
After hanging up, she felt even more messed up inside. With James in a coma again, she decided to head to the Fair family's company.
But she ran into people from Apex Holdings Group.
Everyone at the company was freaking out.
In the past two days, fifty people had quit, like they all knew the Fair Group was toast.
First, Paddy died, then Kenny vanished, and President James had been in the hospital.
Now, debt collectors had shown up two days in a row, acting all high and mighty. It looked like the Fair family was in deep trouble.
All the Fair Group executives were scared stiff by the debt collectors from Apex Holdings Group.
Getting two years' worth of orders done in a month was a joke, even if they never slept.
How did Kenny dare to sign such a crazy agreement!
The board members looked defeated, while Bert sat at the head of the table, flashing his gold diamond watch.
"There's about twenty days left. Figure it out. If the goods aren't delivered, you'll owe Apex Holdings Group $1.4 billion."
Bert was loving it, like he owned the place.
And the board members didn't dare to challenge him.
He was savoring the feeling of holding their fates in his hands.
In the middle of the silence, the conference room door swung open, and Selena walked in.
The moment Bert saw her, he was stunned.
Who was this woman?
Only a few board members recognized Selena, and seeing her made them furious.
"Where's Mr. Fair?"
"Why are you here? Causing trouble?"
Selena walked up to Bert.
Bert, in his forties, immediately perked up. She was way prettier than his mistresses.
Selena said matter-of-factly, "I'm James's daughter. You said there's still twenty days left. If you come to the partner's company and make a scene, it won't look good if others find out, right?"
Bert didn't want to hassle a beauty, so he stood up and held out a hand. "I didn't know James had such a beautiful daughter. Hi, I'm Bert, the president of Apex Holdings Group."
He felt like he'd seen Selena somewhere before, and then his eyes suddenly widened.
A long time ago, Kross had shown him a photo, saying she was the prettiest student in Silver Bay City, and it would be a great catch.
Bert wasn't as reckless as Kross back then. Although he liked women, he wouldn't do something that could land him in jail.
But he had looked at that photo a few times, and her youthful charm indeed made him itch.
"Are you Selena?"
She was James's daughter!
Bert's eyes sparkled as if saw an opportunity.
