Chapter 1487 A Threat Displayed: Does It Deserve Death?

Atlas lounged in the chair next to Zaid, holding a glass of champagne instead of his usual red wine.

"Zaid, if it were up to me, I'd blow up the whole damn island," Atlas said, his voice steady but firm.

Atlas hated leaving loose ends, but he always respected Zaid's decisions. They were twins, and he had grown used to being Zaid's shadow.

Zaid took a slow sip from his wine glass, savoring the taste. "If I did that, what would be the point? Emilio's probably in there too. Killing him would just stir up more trouble for the organization."

Donny had been captured, but Efrain was still out there. These two were allies, and with Emilio hiding out in Mystic Prison, K only had seven supporters left. BK was a powerful force, and if its three leaders united against him, it would spell big trouble.

So, if Emilio could be swayed to join their side, it was worth the effort. Besides, Emilio had an important partner at the research base. Zaid's ultimate goal wasn't BK but the research base itself. Since Emilio had good relations with some people there, Zaid needed to talk to him first.

However, Emilio wasn't easy to deal with. Zaid knew he had to completely subdue Emilio before any meaningful conversation could happen. Today, he had to capture them alive—not just Emilio, but also Selena, Raymond, and Barbara, who had been in hiding for years.

Barbara's existence had always been a thorn in K's side. Zaid remembered being taken in by Barbara, but everything about his life had been meticulously planned by others.

Zaid's gaze drifted into the distance, his thoughts wandering back to the past. In the BK organization, he had always believed Octavia valued him and would make him her successor. He worked tirelessly to earn her approval, always pushing himself harder than anyone else.

But he was acutely aware that he was different. He didn't care for things that were too beautiful, like cute rabbits or kittens. He would dissect these animals and hang their bodies in prominent places, as if they were his trophies.

When he first joined BK, he struggled to adapt and constantly sought out Octavia. But she rarely came to see him, seemingly preoccupied with her own troubles. He began to suspect that Octavia hadn't brought him back out of genuine care but rather out of obligation or by accident.

This realization filled him with anger. He had always believed he was chosen by God, different from ordinary people.

"Victor, did you dissect all these animals?" Octavia had asked him one day, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Octavia had refused to be BK's leader because she wanted to live a normal life. But as BK's leader, she could never be ordinary. The dissected animals hung in the sunlight, their bodies dried out over time.

No one had ever taught him how to dissect, but it seemed to come naturally to him. He thought Octavia would praise him, so he admitted it without hesitation.

"Yeah, Octavia, I used this to dissect them," he said proudly, showing off his scalpel.

Some of the animals he dissected were pets within the organization, very friendly ones. But that didn't matter to him.

Octavia slapped him hard, her face a mix of shock and anger. "Who taught you to dissect them? Victor, this cat had an injured leg. I was nursing it back to health. Who told you to kill it?"

"It showed its claws at me. Shouldn't it be killed?" he lied, quickly making excuses when he saw how angry Octavia was. The cat had never shown its claws; it was very gentle. It had even meowed softly while he dissected it.

He had always enjoyed the thrill of tormenting the weak, and in that moment, he felt as if Octavia had seen right through him.
