Chapter 344 What Can Two Daughters Do?
So, Steven didn't buy it at all. He told them not to go, thinking it was a scam, and he had no clue where they got their info from.
But they went anyway, and a few hours later, they came back with $450,000.
When Steven went to the bank to pay off the loan, he was in shock.
Thirty years of mortgage, gone in one shot, and they still had over a hundred grand left.
Steven piped up, "Mom, the early repayment got approved. The bank took the money, and we don't have to pay the mortgage anymore."
Victoria's eyes lit up with excitement, which quickly turned into greed. "James's family is rolling in dough now. They just pulled out $450,000 like it was nothing. You should see that villa; it's gorgeous. Each floor is like thousands of square feet. We could all move in, and you could rent out this place."
Steven felt a bit jealous but remembered how Arthur and Victoria had ignored James for years, never sending him any money. Now they wanted to move in? He doubted James would be cool with that. "Mom, didn't you say James is still in a coma in the hospital?"
Victoria responded, "Yeah. His second wife brought a son over. If something happens to James, won't the Fair family's company and assets go to that guy? James only has two daughters, Selena and Alice. You've met Selena. Alice is always sick. What can two daughters do? You could adopt one of your sons to him, and James would be forever grateful."
Arthur nodded in agreement. "Exactly. What Can Two Daughters Do? Steven, you should come with us to the Fair Group. James already started a company in Silver Bay City. What are you afraid of, getting fired? We can work at the Fair family's company!"
Hearing this, Steven got anxious. If something happened to James, wouldn't all that money go to his second wife?
He got so worked up his face turned red, like it was his own money being taken away.
Steven was the younger son, and Arthur and Victoria had always favored him, always thinking of him when something good came up.
Later, when James married Barbara and had a daughter, they liked James even less.
Luckily, Steven was doing well and had two sons!
Arthur and Victoria were excited and got a call saying if they didn't go to the hospital to see James and show some goodwill while he was still unconscious, he wouldn't recognize them when he woke up.
Arthur and Victoria thought it made sense and decided to go to the hospital.
Victoria suggested, "Steven, you stay home and wait for the good news. I'll make sure James agrees to adopt one of your kids. Then, the family assets will be your child's, and the Fair family's assets will be yours too."
Steven's cheeks flushed with excitement, and he nodded. "Good Luck."
Victoria and Arthur hurried to the hospital where James was and tried to get in to see him.
But two bodyguards at the door wouldn't let them in, no matter what.
Victoria, getting desperate, slapped one of the bodyguards. "Do you know who I am? The person inside is my son! How dare you not let me in to see him? What are you up to? And you two are just bodyguards, which means you're my son's servants! What right do you have to shout at us?"
Victoria was used to causing a scene. Not getting her way, she immediately got physical.
They were both in their seventies, and when the bodyguards pushed, Arthur conveniently lay down on the ground.
Victoria clamoured, "Doctor, come quickly and check on Arthur. They're trying to kill him."
The bodyguard looked grim and immediately called Selena.
