Chapter 1472 He Couldn't Send Selena to Her Death
She stood there for about twenty minutes, watching as the cars and shadows disappeared. She still felt incredibly stiff.
It wasn't until a hand rested on her shoulder and patted her that she snapped out of it. It was Emilio.
"Hey, what's up?"
Selena finally came to her senses. "I told you to wait inside, didn't I?"
"You didn't come back, so I came to check on you."
Selena entered the room and grabbed a hat, putting it on her head.
"Emilio, I need to go out for a bit. Can you watch Mario for me? He's running a high fever and can't take care of himself. Please look after him for a while."
"When will you be back?"
"I don't know."
Selena's brow furrowed. She needed to find out who those people were and if the man they captured was Raymond.
If it was, she had to rescue him.
She had to infiltrate them.
A shadow crossed Emilio's eyes. He had no idea what those people from the inner island were up to, barging into the middle island in the dead of night and causing such a commotion.
If Selena recklessly followed them and something happened to her, who would he turn to for the jellyfish seal?
He couldn't let Selena go to her death.
"Selena, those people are from the inner island."
"How do you know?"
"The license plates. The outer island, middle island, and inner island have different plates. The inner island's power is complex, controlled by several families, and only they can use guns. If you provoke them, you probably won't come back alive."
"I won't act recklessly, Emilio. Please take care of Mario."
Even though it was a bit guilty to leave now, Mario really needed someone to look after him.
Emilio's brow tightened, cursing the group causing trouble tonight. His people hadn't yet figured out the specifics, and he needed to stall Selena.
But Selena was already worked up about Raymond, knowing someone might have given him false information. She couldn't stay calm.
She broke free from Emilio's grip and chased in the direction the cars had disappeared, even hopping into a taxi.
"Damn it!"
In the blink of an eye, she was gone.
Emilio angrily pulled out his phone and called his people.
"Have you found out why this group came to the middle island to cause trouble?"
"Mr. Blair, they're from the Soto family. Eldon Soto ran away."
"Just because of that?"
The Soto family was a major family on the inner island. Eldon was the eldest son and was supposed to marry a woman from another family. But Eldon had a different orientation; he liked men.
This was absolutely forbidden in Mystic Prison.
Not only was it forbidden, but it was practically a death sentence.
When this issue first arose within the families, Eldon's grandfather, Yosef, almost disowned him. The Soto family didn't lack children, after all.
But Eldon was exceptionally smart, smarter than the other men in the Soto family. Yosef decided to give him a chance, telling Eldon that as long as he liked women, married a woman from another family, and had children, the matter would be dropped.
Eldon had agreed and gradually took over the family business. But tonight, he dared to run away?
Mystic Prison was only so big. No one could ever leave. Where could he possibly go?
How foolish.
And causing such a big scene, it was clearly more than just running away.
Emilio's lips curled into a smile. "What else did he do?"
Emilio was the one who secretly traded with the four major families, though no one knew his true identity. He knew everything about these families, and the people of Mystic Prison were like toys in his hands.
Every rule and piece of knowledge they learned from birth was part of a scheme orchestrated by the people behind Emilio.
"Mr. Blair, Eldon stole the Soto family's symbol of power and took one of their prisoners."
Emilio's brow furrowed again. What was Eldon trying to do?
Never mind, it wasn't his concern. He just wanted to get the jellyfish seal.
Once he had the jellyfish seal and returned to the organization, K wouldn't be so arrogant anymore.
