Chapter 1363 Anger
Meanwhile, Jason had been rushed to the hospital, but regained consciousness just as the doctor attempted to insert an IV. He immediately pulled out the needle and left, heading downstairs.
The Smiths, having heard about Jason's incident, were preparing to leave when a car pulled up outside. Jason emerged, carrying a palpable heaviness that Lawrence immediately sensed.
"Darling, what happened? You look exhausted," Cora rushed forward to take his jacket.
Jason ignored her completely, his gaze fixed on Lawrence, who stood coldly at the entrance.
"Father," Lawrence acknowledged with a slight nod.
In the next instant, Jason stormed in and hurled a vase from the entryway table directly at Lawrence. Caught off guard, Lawrence was struck on the forehead, blood immediately streaming down.
Cora trembled in shock, rushing to shield Lawrence. "What's wrong? Why are you so angry? What has Lawrence done?"
While Cora anxiously tried to tend to Lawrence's wound, he remained stubbornly in place, wondering what could have possibly provoked such rage from Jason.
Jason moved deliberately to the sofa, his eyes cold as steel as he stared at Lawrence.
"Tell me exactly what you did tonight," Jason demanded, his voice filled with contempt.
Initially hesitant, Lawrence finally admitted, "I helped Tessa deal with Raymond's woman."
Jason nearly laughed bitterly at the response. It was clear now: Tessa had known all along that his daughter would arrive tonight, deliberately mischaracterizing her as "Raymond's woman" to manipulate Lawrence into targeting her.
"Kneel!" Jason's voice thundered, causing Cora to flinch violently. This display of fury was unprecedented from the typically composed patriarch.
Without argument, Lawrence walked to the center of the hall and dropped to his knees.
Jason's cold gaze fixed on him, his dissatisfaction mounting. How could Lawrence, the boy he had raised, become this way?
"So whatever Tessa asks, you simply obey?" Jason's voice was ice. "If she ordered you to move against me, would you comply just as readily?"
Lawrence froze, incredulous. "Father, Tessa would never..."
"Darling, please calm down," Cora interjected. "You're not thinking clearly. Tessa may be spoiled, but she truly respects you as her father."
"Shut up! You have no place in this conversation," Jason snapped, causing Cora to pale instantly.
Taking a deep breath, Jason instructed a nearby security guard, "Bring Tessa down immediately."
Upstairs, Tessa remained blissfully unaware of the unfolding drama, eagerly anticipating news of Selena's death. She smiled to herself, dreaming of headlines about a tragic accident and her permanent place in the Smith Villa. With Lawrence firmly under her control, she believed her future was secure.
Selena was just a lowly person. Yet she had the audacity to aspire to be the daughter of the Smith family? A wretched girl raised in the countryside like her could never be deserving!
Tessa's face was lit with smiles, still lost in her fanciful dreams.
The knock on her door startled her pleasant reverie. Expecting Lawrence with an update, she hurried to answer.
"Ms. Smith, Mr. Jason Smith requests your presence," announced the security guard.
Tessa shrank back instantly. Jason was the only family member she truly feared, especially now that he knew she was an impostor. His summons could only mean expulsion from the Smith Villa.
"Where are Lawrence and my mom?" she asked anxiously.
"Downstairs with him," the guard replied.
Tessa relaxed slightly. As long as those two were present, she believed her position was safe.
