Chapter 263 Let Raymond's Wife Come Over
Raymond glanced up, spotting Caterlington, who seemed eager to chat about Olivia. Something felt off, but Raymond couldn't quite put his finger on it, so he just frowned.
Caterlington kept the conversation light, touching on various topics and even helped Raymond dodge some drinks, giving him a bit of a breather.
The rest of the group kept gossiping about the latest happenings in their circle.
Olivia's eyes sparkled with mischief; since everyone was here, why not stir the pot by inviting Raymond's wife over?
With a sly grin, Olivia decided to text Catherine.
She and Catherine had a falling out before because Catherine didn't think much of the Stone family and didn't want her with Raymond.
But things had changed. Just as Olivia was making her comeback, Catherine reached out, saying if Olivia still liked Raymond, she could marry him once he got divorced.
Catherine's attitude had softened, and she seemed to prefer Olivia over Raymond's current wife.
[Do you have Raymond's wife's number? I need to talk to her.]
Catherine had previously clashed with Raymond over Olivia. But later, she found out Raymond had been involved with other women.
She figured if Raymond wasn't going to be exclusive to Olivia, she might as well introduce him to other socialites from their circle, better than him finding someone unsuitable.
So now, Catherine wasn't as keen on Olivia as before. She didn't bother with small talk and just sent Selena's number.
Olivia looked at the number, her grin widening. While no one was watching, she sent a quick text.
[Raymond's drunk. Come get him.]
Selena was stressing over the design plans for Manston Manor. She'd revised them multiple times but still wasn't happy.
Even though she'd leveraged some perks from Cornerstone Construction, the design plans were still on her.
She rubbed her temples when her phone buzzed.
She picked it up, a bit surprised.
It was a message from Paddy, a high-ranking member of the Fair family who'd been with James from the start. But as he got older, his contributions had dwindled.
James kept these old-timers around, which was kind of indecisive. A publicly traded company needed fresh blood, and those who'd been there from the beginning should've been given stock dividends and let go. But James insisted on keeping them, which made the company stick to old ways in some areas.
James's kindness was admirable, but the business world was cutthroat.
Selena hadn't talked to Paddy in a long time because when she married Raymond three years ago, she told James that to make the most of the Montague Group's three billion investment, the company needed a major overhaul, and all the old employees had to go.
Paddy overheard this, and since he was one of the old employees, it caused a rift between them. But why was Paddy reaching out now?
[Selena, I need to tell you something important in person. Can't say it over the phone. Meet me at this place by 11. If you don't come, I'll pretend tonight never happened.]
Selena looked at the message; it was definitely from Paddy.
When she was younger, she had a good relationship with Paddy.
But after the fallout, Paddy called her ungrateful and accused her of burning bridges, and he never came to the Fair family again.
Selena knew Paddy well; he was genuine but very rigid and couldn't stand young people contradicting him.
Right now, she couldn't come up with a satisfactory design, so she got up, changed, and headed to the bar.
But she had no idea that after Paddy hung up, a bunch of guys stormed into the private room, forcing him to drink.
Paddy's eyes rolled back as they made him drink, vomiting while they kept pouring more down his throat.
"Old man, if you want to stay alive, mind your own business, got it? You can only blame yourself! Who told you to see that?"
