Chapter 99 Sabotage the Fair Group's Business

Raymond's eyes were dripping with sarcasm, and his lips were clamped shut.

Mia asked, "Grandpa, did she really say that?"

William nodded, "Yep, Selena's got a good head on her shoulders."

Mia handed over the medicine, thinking, 'That's ridiculous. Everyone in Silver Bay City wants to have Raymond's kid. Selena's playing it smart, saying stuff like that to William.'

Given William's condition, Raymond had no choice but to go along with it, even if it was just lip service.

Mia couldn't wait to see how far Selena would go with her shamelessness the day after tomorrow!

But when Mia caught Raymond's eye, she had to zip it.

Raymond pushed the medicine towards William and said, "Grandpa, I'll do my best."

Same old response, but whether he meant it or not, William couldn't tell, so he raised his chin, "Tonight, I want to go to Ashbourne Manor to see if you're really trying."

You'd think Raymond would be rattled, but he just lowered his eyes calmly, "Alright."

William's health didn't really allow him to go out. He was just testing Raymond.

Seeing Raymond's calm, William believed him.

William added, "For the past three years, you've ignored Selena, and she's never bad-mouthed you to me. Now, with Mia's birthday party, it's a good chance to introduce her properly. Your wedding was so rushed, a lot of people don't even know what she looks like. She'll get bullied when she goes out."

William was really looking out for Selena.

A flicker of irritation crossed Raymond's face, but he couldn't argue with William.

After all, it was just a title. She'd enjoyed plenty of perks with that title over the years.

Raymond said, "Grandpa, as long as you're happy. Your health is what matters most right now."

William asked, "Did you visit James today?"

Raymond replied, "I'll go later."

With that, William had nothing more to say.

When Raymond left The Montague Villa, his face was ice-cold.

Raymond ordered, "John, find out if the Fair Group has any big projects coming up and mess them up."

John was stunned. Raymond wanted to sabotage the Fair Group's business?

Did the Fair family do something to tick off Raymond?

John had his doubts but didn't dare to ask.

The Montague Group did have a project recently, but it was small potatoes for them.

It was only worth two hundred million bucks, while the Montague Group usually dealt with projects over a billion.

But this two hundred million dollar project was crucial for the Montague Group.

If someone snatched it, the Montague Group would definitely take a big hit.

John added, "Got it, I'll get someone on it right away."

Raymond's face stayed icy, staring indifferently at the street outside. He couldn't stand women who thought she's smarter than she was. If Selena thought she could win his favor by buttering up William, she was dead wrong.

For her so-called cleverness, she'd have to pay the price.

Raymond added, "Oh, and when you visit James later, make sure he tells Selena not to pull any stunts."

John nodded, showing he got the message.

Only then did Raymond feel a bit more at ease.

Meanwhile, Selena had no clue about any of this.

That morning, Selena had sent the construction plans to the renovation team she usually worked with.

But she hadn't heard back, so she called them, only to get no answer.

Selena sensed something was off and decided to visit the company's office herself.

At an office building about ten miles from Ashbourne Manor, Selena showed up at 2 PM.

The receptionist saw her and quickly stopped her, "Ma'am, do you have an appointment?"

Selena had been here before. The owner, Reid Wright, had worked with her multiple times. This wasn't her first visit; she often came here to discuss details with the team during their previous projects.

But now, she was being stopped.

Selena said, "I'm here to see Mr. Wright."

The receptionist replied, "I'm sorry, Mr. Wright is on a business trip today and won't be back until next week."

This was just an excuse; the receptionist clearly recognized her and was intentionally blocking her.

Reid wasn't answering his phone, and the receptionist said he was on a business trip. Selena guessed Reid was probably still in the office but didn't want to see her for some reason.

Selena said with a faint smile, "Alright, I get it. I'll come back later."

The receptionist breathed a sigh of relief and called the internal line after Selena left, "Mr. Wright, I've stopped Ms. Cooper. She said she'll come back later."

Reid nodded and, after hanging up, called the T. Rowe Group, "Mr. Walsh, congrats on your promotion. I've done what you asked. Now, about signing the contract with my company..."

Caterlington chuckled lightly, twirling a pen between his fingers.
