Chapter 49

Selena plopped back into her seat, and Joseph wasted no time in mocking her.

"Throwing a billion dollars to butter up Mr. Montague, you really think he cares?"

Selena found it funny and just shrugged him off.

Joseph was already in a foul mood from losing money. Engaging with him would only make things worse.

Seeing Selena ignore him, Joseph got even more frustrated. It was the first time a woman had ever brushed him off like that.

Not far away, Sofia stood next to Raymond, her fists clenched in anger.

She had hoped Selena would make a fool of herself at the casino, but instead, Selena was the star of the night. People of influence were talking about her, and some even mentioned wanting her for future design projects.

'Damn it, how can that bitch Selena be so lucky?' Sofia thought, glaring at her.

Selena, however, seemed completely unaware. She went back to her cautious strategy, playing each round carefully. She wanted to leave but had no excuse as the current winner. Plus, Joseph was watching her like a hawk.

When she saw Raymond stand up, she felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders.

Selena quickly pushed her remaining chips to Joseph. "Mr. Anderson, thanks for bringing me here tonight. I had a blast."

These were white chips, the most common ones, worth only ten thousand dollars each, and there were very few of them in the entire place.

Joseph's face turned red with fury, his fingers trembling.

Just as he was about to explode, he saw Selena walking towards Raymond.

With Raymond there, Joseph had to swallow his anger, nearly fainting from frustration.

Sofia was just as upset.

She wanted to follow them, but after upsetting Raymond last time, she didn't dare. She could only glare at Selena's back in frustration.

Selena slowed her pace and walked up to Raymond, speaking politely, "Mr. Montague, mind if I walk out with you? This place is huge, and I might get lost."

It was a lie since the staff here were trained to escort every guest out.

But refusing to guide a lady wouldn't be gentlemanly, so Raymond just glanced at her and started walking out.

His phone buzzed, and he checked messages from Alex.

It was a screenshot: [How to tell if someone likes you.]

[1. Does she often steal glances at you?]

[2. Does she always try to create opportunities to be alone with you?]

[3. Does she like to casually show off her attractive figure?]

[4. Does she go out of her way to find out all your social media accounts, including email?]

[5. Does she immediately deny any relationships with other men to avoid misunderstandings?]

Raymond read the first few points before turning off the screen with a cold expression. It was boring.

Just then, Selena's voice cut in. "About the house design, I already have a few ideas. Mr. Montague, could you give me an email address?"

Raymond's steps faltered as he turned to look at her with a complicated expression.

Selena couldn't figure out why he suddenly looked that way. As she focused on his profile and was about to ask, he continued walking nonchalantly. "Mr. Montague?"

"Aren't you married?" Raymond asked lightly.

Selena was caught off guard and reflexively answered, "Yes."

Raymond frowned. If she was married, she should be loyal to her marriage.

And what was going on with Carter before?

"My Aunt Grace said you were dating Carter..." Before Raymond could finish, Selena quickly explained, "Mr. Ashford scheduled my next order, and I helped him with a small favor in return. I didn't expect to meet Mrs. Grace Ashford, and I was very nervous at the time."

Selena hadn't expected Raymond to know about it.

As she spoke, she seemed to relive the tension of that moment, instinctively loosening the tie around her neck, which made her breathing easier and inevitably revealed a bit of her alluring collarbone.

Explaining her relationship with another man, showing off her attractive figure.

All five points matched.
