Chapter 178 Low Standards
Raymond had done everything he could.
He really didn't want to deal with Selena because nothing good ever came from meeting her.
Selena sat there alone, looking super docile because she was sick.
People came and went around her, but no one bothered to ask if she needed help.
Raymond had already gone back to the car after putting her on the bench. As he opened the car door, he noticed someone approaching her—not a guy, but a woman.
And it was a woman he recognized.
"Bitch! I finally found you!" The woman looked fierce and immediately shoved Selena.
Selena's vision was already blurry, and she felt weak all over. The push made her back hit the bench hard, and she winced in pain.
She looked up and saw it was the woman who was always with Jacob, with red hair, thick eyeliner, and makeup so heavy you could barely tell what she really looked like.
"Where did you hide Jacob?" The woman cursed and then noticed something was off with Selena. She sneered and reached out to grab her hair.
Selena's reaction was slow, and she couldn't dodge in time.
But the hand was stopped mid-air. The woman looked up and saw Raymond, a flash of surprise in her eyes, followed by disdain. "Your backup is here! You two must have something going on!"
Raymond's expression turned icy as he narrowed his eyes at her.
The woman shuddered inside. She wanted to keep cursing but felt something choking her. She also saw the luxury car parked nearby and realized Raymond wasn't someone to mess with.
"I have business with this woman. She hid my man!" she spat out, glaring at Selena.
Selena, in a daze, heard this and propped herself up on the bench to stand. "Your man? Jacob hasn't divorced his wife back home, and he doesn't have a job here. What do you see in him?"
Selena wasn't belittling Jacob; she was just stating the facts.
Jacob was with this woman just to survive, wasn't he?
Selena had never looked down on a man so much before. Jacob ditched his wife and parents back home to be with another woman, which went against Selena's moral code.
The woman wasn't surprised to hear that Jacob had a wife back home; after all, she hadn't divorced her own husband either. "So what? We truly love each other. I don't care about his wife, and besides, I haven't divorced my husband either. No one should judge anyone."
Selena thought she was hallucinating.
She realized just how low Jacob had set his own standards for the sake of survival.
Selena's face turned cold. The woman glanced at Raymond beside her, cursed, and walked away.
To Selena's dismay, the woman entered the apartment complex she lived in.
Her whole body stiffened, and she felt a headache coming on.
No wonder they met here; they were neighbors in the same complex!
The apartments here weren't cheap. Jacob had found himself a wealthy woman, and a married one at that.
Selena felt nauseous, and with her fever, the scene in front of her seemed even more wobbly.
As she teetered on the brink of collapse, Raymond's hand reached out to steady her, gallantly grasping her arm and subtly stepping back to maintain a proper distance.
Selena, recalling previous encounters, felt a bit awkward.
She was about to say she could go up on her own when she heard him ask, "Which floor?"
Selena felt like her whole body was floating. She could barely stand, let alone walk.
Now was not the time to be stubborn, so she said, "Fifth floor, sorry to trouble you, Mr. Montague."
