Chapter 182 Falling Out

Selena's eyelid twitched, and she almost yanked her hand back on instinct.

But Grace held on tight, just staring at Lillian, looking all confused.

Lillian went pale, her eyes darting from Carter to Selena, finally landing on their clasped hands.

Lillian knew Grace. She'd planned to visit her last night, even bought a gift with her paycheck, but Carter had called her back.

She knew her family wasn't in Carter's league, but she really liked him, and he treated her well too.

So why was Grace holding Carter and Selena's hands?

Wasn't Selena already married?

Selena had a thing with Raymond, and now she seemed to be Carter's girlfriend too.

This whole situation was so messed up, Lillian felt like puking.

She thought Selena was a friend, but it turned out she'd been played!

She remembered Selena comforting her, saying Grace wouldn't be tough on other women. What was Selena thinking when she said that?

Lillian felt humiliated, and tears started streaming down her face.

But even so, she had to expose Selena's true colors!

Lillian stormed forward and slapped Carter across the face, crying out, "Jerk!"

Then she turned to Selena, ready to slap her too.

But Selena blocked her hand and pulled back the hand Grace was still holding.

Lillian was crying so hard she could barely breathe, let alone curse.

Selena got how Lillian felt, but she was dragged into this mess and didn't need to get slapped.

Selena looked at Carter. Lillian was his girlfriend, so he should explain.

But before Carter could say anything, Grace had already composed herself and asked calmly, "And who is this?"

Maybe it was Grace's calm voice that made Lillian feel she had someone to talk to. She rubbed her eyes and cried, "Madam, I'm Carter's girlfriend. Isn't this Penny already married? How can she be Carter's girlfriend, and she also has a thing with Mr. Montague. Are they sharing a woman?"

Lillian cried harder, feeling utterly humiliated.

Thinking about how she took care of Selena last night, who knew how Selena was laughing at her inside. She wasn't a match for these people.

Lillian didn't dare look into Grace's eyes and cried as she walked towards the door.

Carter finally snapped out of it and quickly chased after her, grabbing her. "Lillian, Penny and I don't have that kind of relationship."

Lillian sobbed, wanting to shake off his hand but also feeling reluctant.

Hearing their conversation, Grace's face darkened, and her gaze towards Selena wasn't as gentle anymore.

Selena sensed the change in Grace's attitude and sighed inwardly.

Grace looked behind Selena and smiled, but this time her attitude was noticeably colder. "Penny, let's all go inside and have a good talk."

Selena didn't dare refuse and stepped aside.

Grace walked in first, followed by Carter holding the still-sobbing Lillian, and Selena trailed a few steps behind, closing the door.

This situation was beyond her control, and Grace was a strong woman. Everyone present today would likely be remembered.

Since it was her house, Selena, as the hostess, went to pour some water.

Grace sat upright and said, "Speak."

Carter was the first to react, pulling Lillian to sit in front of her. "Mom, this is my girlfriend Lillian. Penny is Raymond's interior designer. I had no choice but to bring her to meet you before."

When Grace remained silent, she had a strong presence, after all, she was from the Montague Family.

Hearing "had no choice," Grace's gaze fell on Selena and said, "You had plenty of chances to explain, but what did you do?"

After saying this, Grace stood up. "Penny, let's pretend I never said those things to you before. You are a very capable young woman. As for you, Carter, go to the Montague Group this afternoon."

Grace didn't mention Lillian.
