Chapter 198 He Doesn't Like You
Selena had no clue James had called William. She just felt wiped out.
Hearing that Raymond went to Fair Villa that night and disrespected the Fair Family, she worried he'd hate her, his so-called wife, even more.
James was always pulling stunts that embarrassed her.
But Selena knew if she showed her frustration with James now, Alice would be thrilled.
"Okay, got it." With that, Selena brushed past Alice, ready to leave.
Alice froze, stunned by Selena's reaction.
Selena and James were always at each other's throats. How could she not be mad at James for contacting William without asking?
Alice, already in bad shape, had shown up at four in the morning and waited for two hours.
Now, seeing Selena's reaction, she lost it.
Alice blurted out, "Selena, Mr. Montague was with another woman at this hotel last night."
She was sure Selena hadn't been with Raymond.
But Selena replied coolly, "I know. I was with him last night."
Those words hit Alice like a knife.
Alice was too shocked to respond, just standing there.
Seeing Selena about to leave, she panicked, "How could you!"
Realizing her tone was too harsh, Alice quickly softened it, "How could you be with Mr. Montague last night? He doesn't like you, Selena. You don't have to lower yourself for the Fair Family. I know you just don't want to go against James."
Selena feigned confusion. "Raymond and I are married. Isn't it normal to be with him? Besides, James is right. So many women in Silver Bay City want to marry Raymond but don't get the chance. Since I have the opportunity, I should do everything I can to keep him, right?"
Every word Selena said made Alice angrier.
Alice's face turned red with anger, her breathing shaky, while Selena went to get some food.
Seeing Selena had brought enough for two, Alice's expression darkened even more.
But to avoid raising Selena's suspicion, she forced a smile. "Wow, I didn't know you were so close with Mr. Montague."
Selena smiled slightly and then left.
The more casual Selena was, the angrier Alice felt inside.
After Selena left, Alice slowly unclenched her hand.
She had to find a way to stop Selena from getting close to Raymond like this.
Alice coughed violently in anger, her body swaying.
She wished she could tear Selena apart, but all she could do was watch Selena enter the elevator.
Selena could share a bed and breakfast with Raymond, while Alice had to spend a lot of time waiting at places he frequented, feeling like the world brightened just by seeing him.
How could Selena have this privilege? She hated her own useless body.
Selena, meanwhile, had brought the food to the room.
Raymond was still looking at documents, the light in the room casting a golden glow over him.
As an artist, Selena had an urge to capture this scene.
Raymond's features were the most perfect proportions she had ever seen. She believed any artist who saw him would take hundreds of photos to study his form for drawing.
Selena placed the food on the table and reached out to organize the documents. Just as Raymond was about to take the same document, their hands unexpectedly touched.
Raymond stiffened and looked up at her.
Selena quickly let go, but in her haste, she accidentally knocked over the milk she had brought, causing it to spill onto the documents.
The milk soaked the documents and some even dripped onto the floor.
Raymond's brow twitched, his face turning completely dark.
Knowing she had caused trouble, Selena shrank back, awkwardly biting her lip.
With her appearance, biting her lip, she seemed somewhat pitiful, leaving Raymond speechless.
