Chapter 320 You Are Truly Wicked
Selena's eyes turned icy.
She'd never really spent time with her so-called grandparents. The only time she visited Ridgefield was as a little kid when Barbara took her there. But since Barbara passed away so early, those memories were pretty fuzzy.
Still, Selena remembered that visit clearly because they came at her and Barbara with brooms.
Back then, James had just started making some money.
Barbara, a grateful and devoted woman, thought they should share some of their earnings with James's parents, especially since they had raised him.
Barbara and her brother Brian's parents had passed away long ago, and the relationship Barbara and Brian was pretty solid.
But before they even got inside, James's parents assumed they were broke and there to beg for money. So, before Barbara could even say a word, they started swinging brooms.
Arthur yelled, "Get out! We don't recognize you as our daughter-in-law! Get out and don't ever come back! How cheeky!"
Steven was their youngest son.
Selena, cradled in Barbara's arms, could only hear the broom hitting Barbara's back.
That was Selena's memory of her grandparents.
Now, with James still in a coma, her grandparents had popped up, clearly not for anything good.
Selena took a deep breath and drove towards the Fair family mansion.
Inside the Fair family mansion, Arthur and his wife Victoria Irving sat on an expensive couch, their eyes constantly darting around.
What a grand mansion! It was way more spacious than Steven's six hundred square foot house. Outside, there was even a garden, and so many servants attending to everything.
James's family had made such a fortune in Silver Bay City, yet they didn't think to help Steven out, which made them very angry.
Beatrice sat on a single couch, smiling at them. "Dad, Mom, Selena will be back soon. You can tell her whatever you need to."
Arthur snorted, and Victoria rolled her eyes.
Barbara was already dead, and this was James's second wife, who had given birth to a daughter of James and brought a child into the marriage with James.
James always had poor taste in women, but at least he could make money.
Victoria said, "You're still young and can have children. When James wakes up, go for IVF and have a son."
Beatrice remained expressionless, not wanting to argue with them. She had deliberately informed them because the hospital had suddenly sent news last night that James showed signs of waking up.
If James really woke up, Beatrice would be finished.
The bodyguards Selena had brought were guarding the hospital room door tightly, not letting Beatrice in to visit.
She had to give Selena something to do first so Beatrice could make a move on James.
Now that they were at the Fair family mansion, Selena would be busy.
Beatrice just needed to watch the show.
Half an hour later, Selena arrived.
Victoria's eyes lit up when she saw how beautiful Selena had become. "Is this Selena? She was so small and skinny as a child, and now she's so beautiful."
Selena glanced at Beatrice and saw her sitting indifferently on the side, realizing she didn't want to get involved.
If it weren't for James still being in the hospital, Selena would never have come.
But if she didn't come, given their shamelessness, they might empty out the Fair family villa.
Victoria, now in her seventies, was still quite agile from years of farm work and quickly came to Selena's side. "So beautiful, I never thought Barbara could have such a pretty daughter. But it's a pity, no matter how pretty you are, it's useless."
Selena frowned and sat down beside her. "Why are you here? What do you want?"
She didn't greet them politely. Arthur and Victoria's faces instantly darkened.
Especially Victoria, who put her hands on her hips and started cursing. "What do you mean by this, you little brat? This is James's villa, and I can't come here? You all have been living such a good life behind our backs, but you never thought to give us any money. Do you know how hard it is for your Uncle Steven to support two sons and us? However, you live in a villa? You are truly wicked!"
