Chapter 212 Reid Gets Caught
Selena had no clue the video had already been sent to him, so she started making stuff up: [My neighbors are doing renovations in the middle of the night. I've already complained, but the property management can't do anything.]
Raymond knew she could be pretty assertive in public, but he didn't expect her to be such a good liar.
He squinted but didn't call her out.
He also didn't ask which city she was heading to.
Selena didn't wait for his reply and wasn't bummed out.
Outside, the sound of a woman banging on the door went on late into the night. Realizing Selena wasn't going to open up, the woman left, cursing.
Only then did Selena put down her book and hit the sack.
The next morning, she whipped up a simple breakfast and packed a couple of outfits. But the banging on the door started again. The woman was still at it.
Selena frowned. She'd already had two run-ins with this woman before. This kind of person was unreasonable, and the property management couldn't help, so she called the cops.
Half an hour later, the police showed up.
Selena only opened the door when she saw the cops.
The moment the woman saw her, she tried to rush over but was stopped by the police.
"If you have anything to say, say it at the station!"
Selena frowned and glanced at her phone. Since she called the cops, she had to go to the station to prevent further harassment. Unexpectedly, the woman turned the tables, causing chaos and dragging the process out to four hours.
After signing the papers, Selena felt dizzy and furious. Dealing with unreasonable people was exhausting. The woman cursed so much that even the police had to step in.
Selena left the station, but the woman stayed, waiting for her husband. Too tired to drive to Ridgefield, Selena postponed her trip.
As she was leaving, she saw Reid getting arrested. He glared at her, but she just smiled and ignored him. His connections had failed, and he was taken away with plenty of evidence.
At the Fair family, James called William, subtly informing him about Selena's ordeal. William ordered no one to help Reid. James thanked William and got confirmation that Reid was taken away.
Despite Raymond's warning not to contact William privately, James felt it was necessary to stand up for Selena. Now, he needed to apologize to her.
He called his assistant, Kenny.
"Kenny, get a stock transfer agreement ready ASAP."
Kenny's eyes lit up. "When do you need it, Mr. Fair?"
"By this evening at the latest."
This time, James realized he'd somewhat neglected his daughter.
Kenny nodded and respectfully left.
But as soon as he walked out of the living room, Beatrice stopped him. "What did he ask you to do?"
"Prepare a stock transfer agreement. It should be what you mentioned, transferring fifteen percent to Selena."
Beatrice was so mad she was shaking. She didn't expect James couldn't wait even a day.
She took a deep breath and suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Kenny knew what she was up to and quickly shouted inside.
"Mrs. Fair has fainted!"
James was inside, planning to call Selena to tell her about the stock transfer. But hearing this, he quickly stood up and rushed to the door.
