A face popped into his mind, his brows knitted, and a flicker of annoyance crossed his eyes. But because of William, he had to stick with this marriage.
Raymond calmed himself down, opened his laptop, and got back to work.
Selena, clueless that Raymond had mistaken her facial massager for something else, was stressing about finding a new construction team and the banquet tomorrow night.
Selena pulled out her phone. Raymond had texted her private number before, asking to meet at Montague Manor.
Even though she got delayed and missed it, at least he had her private number.
Selena decided to drop Raymond a hint using her private number. After a long pause, she carefully sent a message: [Mr. Montague, we’ve actually met before.]
The message went through, but no reply came back.
Selena raised an eyebrow, finding it kind of funny.
It seemed like Raymond really didn’t care about his so-called wife, not even enough to care about her identity.
Whatever, she’d deal with it when they met tomorrow night. She had already given him a heads-up, after all.
The next morning, before Selena even woke up, she got a call from James, asking if she had a dress ready for the banquet.
Selena had never been to such an event before, and James’s reminder made her decide to buy a dress.
"Selena, I’ve already had a dress sent to Ashbourne Manor. Just wear that one," James siad.
James was really concerned about Selena’s dress, especially since the banquet was at Montague Villa.
Not many people in Silver Bay City could get into Montague Villa, and with William there, it was a chance to introduce Selena to others and get her into the Silver Bay City circle.
James continued, "Selena, I can’t go because of my health. I start coughing badly after just a few steps. If I go, it’ll just offend people. Make sure you have a good chat with William, okay?"
In the past, Selena would’ve felt really uncomfortable, always feeling like she was being used to save the Fair Family.
But now, with James not having much time left, she didn’t want to argue anymore.
"Dad, I understand," she replied.
"And you need to clear up the misunderstanding with Raymond as soon as possible," James reminded her.
Selena agreed to everything.
Before heading back to Ashbourne Manor, she called Fiona. "Fiona, is Raymond still there?"
"Mr. Raymond Montague left early this morning, and he didn’t look very happy. But Ms. Fair, it seems Mr. Raymond Montague left a gift for you in your bedroom."
Fiona added, "Mr. William Montague asked him to hand it over. It looks pretty valuable."
Hearing that Raymond had already left, Selena didn’t hesitate and drove to Ashbourne Manor.
When she got back to her bedroom and saw the book that had been moved, her brows furrowed.
This was the book she read every night before bed, and she always kept things in order.
Selena took her facial massager and placed it on the dressing table, then picked up the book and glanced at it.
When she saw the name on it, her heart skipped a beat.
She quickly called out, "Fiona."
Fiona walked in. "Ms. Fair, what’s wrong?"
"Did you move my book?"
"No, Ms. Fair, we don’t move items when we clean your room. Could it have been Mr. Montague?"
If it was Raymond, it would explain why he didn’t reply to her message.
Selena sighed. Did this mean she had completely offended Raymond?
Raymond probably still remembered the night they slept together and felt disgusted, right?
Selena felt both angry and amused for a moment and decided not to care anymore.
If Raymond really wanted to change designers, Selena could only temporarily take over Carter’s houses.
Thanks to Raymond's reputation, the studio was already swamped with orders. Sure, this project was important, but it wasn't a make-or-break deal anymore.
There was no need to apologize after having a sexual relationship, especially since they would meet at the banquet later.
