Chapter 138 Raymond, Join Us
After shooting off that message, Selena knew Raymond wouldn't bother replying, so she used her work number to send him another one.
Penny: [Mr. Montague, is the compensation money going straight to your account? I need your card number.]
Just a bit ago, she had borrowed money from Raymond, and now she was using it to settle her debt. Selena didn't feel guilty at all.
Raymond saw the message and frowned. Where did she get all that cash?
Wasn't she still renting with her husband?
The damaged car could be covered by insurance. He had initially asked Megan to pay up just to mess with her.
Now that Selena was stepping up to take responsibility, Raymond never really expected her to come up with eight million dollars.
But he couldn't help but sneer at her tendency to take everything on herself.
Just as he was about to reply, Alex called, asking if he wanted to grab a drink.
Raymond grabbed his jacket and headed straight to the bar.
Selena came to the bar tonight to talk to Shelley about borrowing money. Now that the issue was easily resolved, she started thinking about Raymond's house, as the construction team; they still hadn't found a construction team.
Shelley mentioned she had to go accompany Philip and left after taking a call.
Selena didn't plan to stay long, but just as she was about to leave, someone pressed down on her shoulder.
"Penny, what a coincidence."
Hearing the voice, Selena turned around and saw Caterlington's face.
Caterlington was dressed like a playboy as usual.
"I heard you had a falling out with Reid?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Mr. Walsh, do you really have the nerve to ask?" Selena shot back, her eyes narrowing.
Caterlington chuckled and glanced around.
They were in a booth, and the place was pretty noisy.
"Come to a private room with me? Maybe we have something to discuss," Caterlington suggested, leaning in closer so she could hear him over the din.
Caterlington's eyes were full of affection; he genuinely wanted something to happen with Selena. However, since she was Raymond's wife, he held back.
Selena had already been upfront with him last time, so she figured Caterlington wouldn't act recklessly. She nodded in agreement.
She did want to discuss the construction team with Caterlington.
But once she entered the private room and saw the group of people inside, she felt a chill down her spine.
She knew Caterlington was up to no good and loved to watch the drama. Inside were Raymond, Alex, and some other people from their circle.
"Penny, play a couple of games with me, and I'll handle the construction team for you," Caterlington said.
T. Rowe Group was the biggest decoration company in the country, usually dealing with construction units.
With Caterlington's assurance, Selena felt relieved.
It was just a couple of games, right? With so many people around, he probably wouldn't go too far.
So Selena sat down with Caterlington, but as soon as she did, she got a glare from Emily.
Emily, not wanting to be outdone, squeezed in next to Caterlington, rudely pushing Selena aside.
With that push, Selena ended up sitting next to Raymond.
The private room was spacious, and Raymond sat in the center, surrounded by other heirs from their circle.
Sitting so close, Selena and Raymond were practically touching.
Because of Emily's deliberate pushing, Selena's and Raymond's clothes were pressed tightly together.
Selena could even feel the warmth of his skin through the fabric.
Noticing Raymond frown from being squeezed, she turned to look at Caterlington, hoping he would intervene.
Caterlington, annoyed from being pushed aside, noticed Selena's glance and raised an eyebrow with a smile.
Emily, charmed by his smile, gave Selena a smug look and stopped pushing.
After Selena had settled in and everyone was getting comfortable, Alex's eyes lit up with a mischievous grin. "Shall we continue the game of Truth or Dare?"
Alex held an unopened bottle of red wine and placed it in the center of the table.
The sofa was U-shaped, perfectly surrounding the table.
People started to cheer.
"Of course, let's play! Those of you who brought girlfriends, be careful. Caterlington and Alex play big."
Caterlington was known for being a playboy, and Alex, being a screenwriter, was particularly good at creating topics between men and women.
Most of the heirs had brought female companions, and there were also socialites like Emily who came alone. Everyone had their own thoughts, and the atmosphere quickly became ambiguous.
Raymond usually stayed out of these kinds of situations, just leaning back and watching like a silent observer.
But Alex patted his shoulder and introduced Selena with a smile. "By the way, this is Ms. Cooper, Raymond's interior designer. It's rare for everyone to be together tonight."
As soon as he finished speaking, Emily snorted.
Alex didn't feel awkward. "Raymond, join us. It's so boring without you."
Raymond tossed his phone aside, looking relaxed. "Whatever."
