Chapter 112 The First Time Feeling Embarrassed and Angry
Selena didn't expect Raymond to reply. After shooting off the message, she hopped in the shower.
When she came out, dressed and ready, she noticed the $20,000 had been returned. Raymond hadn't said a word.
Selena frowned. Did this mean he didn't want her to pay him back?
Sure, she knew Raymond wasn't hurting for cash, but he'd always been distant with her.
To be fair, they were both pretty cold to each other. It wasn't like $20,000 was pocket change.
Selena couldn't figure out what Raymond was thinking. That dinner they had was still fresh in her mind.
She snapped a pic of the broken umbrella and sent it to him.
Then she bugged her agent to get the bank to release the funds ASAP so she could move out of Ashbourne Manor. Hiding from Raymond wasn't a long-term plan.
Once Raymond found out who she really was tomorrow night, he'd probably be more than happy to see her go.
She needed to be realistic.
Raymond saw the photo just as he finished drying his hair.
He replied with one word: [Okay.]
Selena: [Mr. Montague, you don't want me to pay?]
Raymond: [No need.]
Seeing how indifferent he was, Selena didn't push it. She just replied: [Thanks.]
The conversation was so dull that Selena tossed her phone aside and didn't bother replying anymore.
Raymond, on the other hand, opened his laptop and started going through some new documents. His eyes landed on a gift box on his desk. It was from William, meant for Selena.
Raymond frowned, picked up the box, and walked out.
Fiona was still tidying up the villa. When she saw Raymond, she quickly put down her cleaning cloth. "Mr. Montague, do you need something?"
Fiona didn't want to neglect Raymond, especially since Selena might get hassled by Catherine again.
"Is she back?" Raymond's eyes drifted to the bedroom at the end of the hall.
"No," Fiona replied.
"Give this to her." Raymond's tone was flat, clearly not in the mood for chit-chat.
Fiona quickly waved her hands, saying, "This looks really expensive. Maybe you should put it in Ms. Fair's room? Mr. William Montague asked you to deliver it, and it doesn't seem right for me to..."
Raymond didn't see the point in bothering a servant, so he headed straight to Selena's room.
As he pushed the door open, a familiar scent hit him.
It was fresh, not like perfume, probably her body wash.
The room was neat. Raymond walked to the bedside table and was about to set down the gift box when he noticed a book about painting.
Raymond had a double degree, and his second was in art, so he reached out to check it out.
Selena had a habit of writing her name and current nickname on the second page of any book she bought.
If Raymond opened it, he'd see the name "Penny."
Raymond's fingers brushed the edge of the cover, about to turn the page when he noticed something on the bedside table.
Under the book was a silver object that looked like a man's private part.
Given its shape, Raymond couldn't help but think more about it. He frowned, put the box down, and instinctively straightened his fingers.
He didn't look at the object again and quickly left the room.
For the first time, Raymond felt a bit embarrassed and angry.
As he exited the bedroom, he saw Fiona outside.
Fiona was about to ask something when Raymond walked past her.
Fiona was stunned but didn't say anything, carefully closing the bedroom door.
Raymond went back to his room and drank a glass of water to calm down.
