Chapter 334 Mutual Infidelity
Selena wanted to argue back because Raymond had told her himself that he had his first time not too long ago, so he’d never been with anyone before.
Maybe it was because she’d heard Shelley talk about this stuff so much, but even though that night was rough, being Raymond’s first made her feel like she’d won something.
Shelley was still going off on the side. "You two really know how to play, huh? Cheating on each other."
Selena tried to change the subject, but Shelley wouldn’t let up. "You still haven’t told me; who was the guy you hooked up with?"
Selena said sheepishly, "You don’t know him."
Shelley asked curiously, "Was he good? Honestly, when I used to watch those videos..."
Selena cut her off, "Stop! He was great; end of story."
Shelley burst out laughing. "You’ve already been with a guy; why are you still so uncomfortable talking about this? When you were a virgin, I didn’t say much of this topic in front of you. But now that you’ve hooked up with someone, there’ll definitely be a second and a third. Just make sure those guys bring their health certificates. It’s one thing to seek excitement, but don’t end up with some disease."
Selena said, "There won’t be a next time."
That time was because of Beatrice’s scheme, and she had completely blacked out. Waking up to see Raymond was quite a shock.
Shelley nudged her with her elbow. "So determined? Looks like that guy didn’t make you feel very good."
Selena’s face flushed instantly, and she hurried to change the subject. "Regarding Kenny, I have a feeling there’s more going on, but since I don’t hold any shares in the Fair family, it’s hard to investigate. Plus, with his thing with the receptionist, he probably knows the moment I step through the door."
Shelley rolled her eyes. "Selena, sometimes I’m blunt, but I gotta say this. Up until now, your dad hasn’t given you any shares. If something really happens to the company one day, who can he blame? You have nothing in your hands, and no one in the boardroom will listen to you. Beatrice saying one word there is probably more effective than you saying ten."
That was true. Selena felt a bitterness in her mouth. But James’ health was ruined by the company’s pressures; she couldn’t let anything happen to the Fair family before he recovered.
Selena said, "Shelley, can you have someone follow Kenny? I want to see who else he’s involved with."
Shelley agreed, "No problem, I’ll keep you informed."
After Shelley left, Selena stared blankly at the photos on her phone.
Was Kenny sneaking around because he had several mistresses, or was someone controlling him? Now she could only wait for Shelley’s investigation results.
Selena raised her hands to rub her temples, rested at home for a while, and then went to the hospital to visit James.
Fortunately, this time James really woke up and opened his eyes. But he still couldn’t speak, just stared at Selena with bloodshot eyes.
Selena had the feeling he had a lot to say. She quickly held his hand. "Dad, don’t get emotional now. You’ll recover slowly."
James blinked. With the oxygen mask on, his eyes just felt sore, and tears started to flow.
Selena was startled. In her mind, James had always been a tough guy. Although his choice of Beatrice was a mistake, when Barbara was still around, James was pretty much their rock.
Otherwise, Barbara wouldn’t have had only praise for him until her death.
But something had changed between her and James, and Selena didn’t know when it happened.
The veins on James’s forehead were bulging, and the nearby machine started beeping.
Selena quickly called the doctor, who gave him a sedative to put him to sleep.
Selena asked, "What’s wrong with my father?"
Why was he so emotional?
The doctor said, "Miss Fair, we’re not entirely sure either. Maybe Mr. Fair has something he wants to tell you, but due to his poor health, he can only be anxious. Once he recovers, everything will get better."
Selena nodded, worriedly watching the sleeping James. What exactly did he want to say?
