Chapter 1373 She Must Love You Very Much

Raymond stood up, studying her intently.

After a few seconds, he asked, "Did you know that seven floors down, everything belongs to me?"

Selena looked puzzled. "What?"

She genuinely didn't know.

Raymond clapped his hands twice. Two security guards entered immediately.

Raymond ordered, "Retrieve that phone. If it's damaged, have it repaired and bring it back to me."

Selena shifted uncomfortably. She felt an inexplicable urge to protect Victor's secret, unable to understand her own behavior—as if she were a marionette controlled by invisible strings.

Raymond gently touched her head, helping her dress.

She couldn't speak, overwhelmed by guilt, nervousness, and a deep, piercing pain somewhere in her core.

The security guards returned after ten minutes. "Mr. Montague, the phone landed quite far. It's been sent for repairs."

Raymond nodded, lit a cigarette, and called for his personal physician.

After examining Selena, the doctor frowned in confusion. "Ms. Fair's vitals are completely normal. She appears physically healthy."

Raymond leaned against the window, cigarette between his fingers. "Call in someone who understands psychology," he said flatly.

The underground fighting arena employed various specialists, including a psychologist.

After speaking with Selena for ten minutes, the psychologist reported to Raymond. "If Ms. Fair truly loved you before, then she's currently under some form of psychological control."

The psychologist tapped his temple. "She doesn't even know what she's doing. She's dependent on whoever is giving her commands. If not for some last thread of consciousness holding on, she would have forgotten you completely. The fact that she doesn't reject you, that she suppressed her panic to return with you—she must have loved you deeply. She's likely been hypnotized by someone extremely skilled."

"How skilled?" Raymond asked.

He had little experience with hypnosis, but hearing that "she must have loved you deeply" made his eyes instantly redden.

To outsiders, Selena's behavior seemed inexcusable—messaging Victor behind Raymond's back, even protecting him. Yet this was the best she could manage after tremendous internal struggle.

She had tried her hardest, but how could one person fight against such manipulation?

Victor's willingness to let her return showed how confident he was in his hypnotic hold over her.

Raymond took a deep drag of his cigarette, tasting nothing but bitterness.

The psychologist said, "Mr. Montague, the world's most skilled hypnotists can create a perfect dreamscape, especially with pharmaceutical assistance. Without a life-altering shock, she won't wake up. Right now, she's pathologically dependent on whoever programmed her—she probably mistakes this dependence for love. Deep down, she likely feels guilty toward you, but tragically, she doesn't recognize her own torment. It's like an addict who feels remorseful when sober, but when in the grip of addiction, sees the world through a haze."

As he spoke, the man observed Selena sitting on the bed.

She gazed out the window, dressed in white velvet loungewear, looking deceptively serene.

"What kind of life-altering shock would it take?" Raymond asked hoarsely, discarding his cigarette.

"Something that brings her to the brink of death might wake her. But could you bear to let that happen?"

Of course he couldn't—which was precisely why Victor felt safe returning her.

Knowing Raymond's nature, his instinct would be to protect and cherish her, not to subject her to harm.

"What other options do we have?" Raymond asked.
