Chapter 242 I Think She's just Trying to Seduce You
Raymond's face was blank, his eyes downcast, but there was something oddly attractive about him.
Rosalind's heart pounded as she watched, her cheeks flushing. She heard him say, "I'll have John see you out."
Her face fell, eyes welling up.
"I know you went to the restroom during dinner to meet Selena."
When Raymond left the table, Rosalind had followed and saw them standing by the restroom door.
The vibe was unmistakable.
Plus, when Raymond came back, he was colder, and then Selena called.
Rosalind felt uneasy. What was going on between them?
"So?"
He stood in the doorway, cold and distant.
Rosalind bit her lip, unsure of his mood.
"Isn't she married? I think she's trying to seduce you."
She hadn't planned to go after Selena, but her pretty face was a problem.
And she seemed to mess with Raymond's mood.
Rosalind wasn't sure about that.
"Raymond, you wouldn't really fall for it, would you?"
Raymond's eyes didn't change, but his face was icy.
"Rosalind, I'm married. Whether I fall for it or not is none of your business. I'll have John see you out."
Rosalind's eyes filled with tears, and she stomped her foot.
"Who cares about you!"
She left, crying.
Raymond rubbed his temples, went back inside, and shut the door.
John came in with a stack of new documents.
"Mr. Montague, Caterlington called."
Raymond grabbed a pen and started looking through the papers. "What did he say?"
"Mrs. Montague is having some trouble. If you don't like her and don't want to help, can he go after her?"
Caterlington, the jerk, wanted to chase another man's wife and had to ask the husband first.
Raymond laughed angrily, picturing that smug face.
Caterlington wasn't picky about women, and it showed.
And he switched targets way too fast.
"Whatever," Raymond said coldly, not stopping his work. "If she falls for him and divorces me, I'd be thrilled."
It would save him from her constant nagging.
John kept his head down, thinking about how much Raymond must hate Mrs. Montague.
"Sir, here's tomorrow's schedule. Once it's done, you can head back."
The project was mostly set, but since it was a government thing, Raymond had to check a few places himself.
"No rush, we'll go back in two weeks."
Otherwise, who knew what William might pull.
"But Miss Stone already booked a flight for the day after tomorrow. She called last night but couldn't reach you. She wants to have dinner."
Raymond was quiet for a moment, then sighed. "Fine, we'll go back tomorrow."
"Okay."
Early the next morning, John drove behind the leaders' cars. They knew Raymond was leaving soon, and today was the last site visit.
But on the way back, after checking all the spots, they ran into a parked car on another road.
Ridgefield was a poor county, with narrow, broken mountain roads and no signs of development. This car was blocking the way.
Han, driving in front, got out and saw who was inside. He was shocked.
Wasn't this Brian's niece?
He knocked on the window. Selena frowned, looked up at the bright sunlight, and got out.
She was still wet, having been cold all night, and her face was pale.
Han was startled. "What happened? Visiting a grave at midnight?"
"Han, sorry, my car broke down, and I can't drive it back."
Han called for a tow truck.
But her car was blocking the road, so everyone had to wait.
Han went to Raymond's car, explained the situation, and sighed.
"Selena's had it rough. Lost her mom early, dad remarried, and her husband's no good. Can she warm up in your car? She's soaked."
Raymond didn't say anything but gripped the documents tighter upon hearing about Selena's background.
