Chapter 42
Joseph couldn't help but glance at Raymond. But Raymond stayed cool, like he was looking at a stranger.
Joseph figured it out. Even if Selena and Raymond had hooked up, so what? In their world, women were just another form of currency.
"Yeah, I've been thinking Penny's pretty good lately."
As he said it, Joseph reached out to pinch Selena's chin, pretending to be all cozy.
Selena grabbed his wrist with a smile. "Mr. Anderson, I forgot to mention, I have a husband. We'd better keep some distance."
This table was packed with gamblers, and it was the most watched one in the room.
Because Raymond was there, and besides him, there was Alex.
Both were big shots in Silver Bay City's elite circle, and Raymond had been losing at the table.
Raymond didn't care for gambling; he was usually dragged there and didn't care if he won or lost.
Raymond had just come back to the country recently. Last time he was here, he lost enough to help a nearly bankrupt company get through a round of financing, about twenty billion dollars.
Who wouldn't like a guy like that?
So when Raymond sat down at this table, the seats filled up fast.
Joseph brought Selena over, and the table was already packed.
Getting dissed by Selena in front of so many gamblers, Joseph was pissed and almost lost it, wanting to slap her.
But if he did, his reputation would be toast.
Had Selena, this bitch, already figured this out?
Joseph's face turned red as he slowly pulled his hand back.
"Then who's your husband? Last time I saw you at the hotel, the guy with you wasn't your husband, right?" Joseph sneered.
Actually, Joseph didn't dare to mention Raymond's name. No way he'd insult Raymond.
Selena smiled and straightened up. "Mr. Anderson, how do you know he wasn't?"
"Because that guy was..."
Joseph stopped short, his face turning redder.
He glanced at Raymond, who looked indifferent, like he didn't know they were talking about him.
Joseph suddenly paused. Last time, Selena had lied that she was Raymond's wife to get out of trouble.
Joseph didn't expect her to pull the same trick again!
But unlike last time, this time Joseph couldn't even argue.
He gritted his teeth, hearing faint laughter from the crowd, knowing if he kept arguing, he'd just embarrass himself.
Once they left here, wouldn't Selena still be at his mercy?
Joseph took a deep breath, about to end the conversation, when Raymond spoke, "Deal the cards."
The dealer, who had been waiting, looked at Selena awkwardly. "This lady doesn't seem to have any chips..."
In the casino, checks were exchanged for chips, and there were waiters around to do it anytime.
Selena had been brought here on the spot, so she didn't have extra money on her.
Joseph had already signaled for someone to get chips for him. He glanced at Selena coldly. "Since you're married, why not go home? Let someone else take this seat."
Joseph had thought bringing Selena over would regain some dignity, but it almost ruined his reputation more. Now, looking at Selena's face, he felt disgusted.
A woman too rebellious wasn't the best choice for a mistress, especially one who pretended to be noble, making people sick.
It would be good to humiliate her; let her know her place.
As long as she left voluntarily, his bodyguards would catch Selena outside the bar, and then she'd be at his mercy.
Someone let out a mocking laugh, "Mr. Anderson is right, some people should know not to embarrass themselves here."
Selena glanced over.
Sofia stood three feet away from Raymond, glaring at her angrily.
