Chapter 116 Get In, I'll Take You to the Hospital
Fiona noticed Raymond hanging around, clearly waiting for Selena, and started to get a bit jittery. She really hoped Selena would hurry back.
Even though Selena had said she wasn't into Raymond, Fiona didn't want things to get awkward between them.
Raymond's time was super valuable, and it was obvious he wasn't a fan of Selena either. But now that he was willing to wait, if Selena took too long, Catherine might show up and stir the pot again.
Fiona ducked into a quiet corner and called Selena. "Hey, Ms. Fair, Mr. Montague's here waiting for you. Should you maybe tie Max outside first?"
If Selena came back now and Max started barking, Raymond would definitely notice since they'd have to walk right by him.
Selena knew Raymond was here to confront her, and the worst-case scenario would be him pulling the plug on their collaboration.
Or even worse, he might publicly declare he'd never work with her studio again.
Selena frowned, holding Max's leash, trying to figure out what to say.
She had thought they'd be divorced soon, so she didn't see the need to explain anything.
No one saw things getting this complicated, but thinking about Raymond's cold attitude, she figured a proper apology would do.
But she definitely couldn't let Raymond know Max was staying at Ashbourne Manor. So, she turned back to find Mia, hoping Mia could watch Max for a bit. She'd deal with Raymond first and then come back for Max, avoiding any more issues with his dog hair allergy.
Mia was more than happy to help and agreed right away.
This back-and-forth took about twenty minutes, and Selena started running towards Ashbourne Manor, worried Raymond would lose his patience.
But just as she got within 400 feet of the manor, she saw Raymond's car pulling out.
Raymond looked pretty ticked off. Twenty minutes was his limit. He never waited more than five minutes for anyone, let alone this being the second time Selena had kept him waiting.
Raymond frowned and spotted Selena through the car window.
Selena was rushing, and when she saw Raymond's car, she was so shocked she twisted her ankle and fell.
The pain made her wince, and she broke out in a cold sweat.
The car stopped beside her, and the window rolled down, revealing Raymond's indifferent face.
Raymond had his hands on some documents on his lap, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, looking totally unapproachable.
Selena struggled to get up, but her twisted ankle made her lips go pale from the pain, and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Mr. Montague," she called out, trying to explain, maybe about not hiding her identity on purpose or something.
But Raymond cut her off with a cold question, "Do you live nearby?"
Selena was stunned, not sure how to react, and then Raymond asked, "Is your foot okay?"
They had run into each other, and they weren't complete strangers. He couldn't just leave her there. Besides, that fall looked pretty bad.
Selena's pants had a hole, her knee was bleeding, and her ankle was twisted. She could barely stand.
She was about to answer when she moved her leg and couldn't help but cry out.
Selena looked down at her knee and saw a small sharp stone embedded in it, no wonder it hurt so much.
The car door opened, and Raymond, still inside, spoke in a flat tone, "Get in, I'll take you to the hospital."
There was a hospital not far from here, just a ten-minute drive, and it was on the way.
Selena's mind raced, then she realized one thing.
Raymond didn't know her identity.
Her face immediately showed a polite smile, and she felt a bit relieved.
With Raymond's complete lack of interest in her, he might not even know her identity after the contract ended.
That was fine. Selena wanted to refuse, but considering her current state, how could she go back to get Max?
"Okay, thank you, Mr. Montague."
