Chapter 266 There’s Definitely Something Going on Between Raymond and Selena

Raymond's hand froze, and his eyes drifted to the window. Sure enough, there was Selena, standing by the roadside.

She looked stressed, probably on a call with someone. Clearly, she was in some kind of trouble.

Behind her, a crowd had gathered around the bar, with cops scattered among them, stopping people from snapping photos.

The bar was taped off with police tape.

Raymond asked, "What's going on?"

John, caught off guard, quickly made a call to find out.

A minute later, he hung up and told Raymond, "Someone was murdered here, died on the spot from alcohol poisoning."

But what did this have to do with Selena? Why was she here in the middle of the night?

Alex had been sitting next to Raymond the whole time. When Raymond stopped working and looked out the window at the mention of Selena, Alex noticed his reaction.

Selena, still on the phone with the hospital, hadn't seen Raymond's car right in front of her.

Through the car window, Raymond watched her, but his mind wandered to Mason, who he'd bumped into at the bar entrance.

He looked away, his face expressionless.

"Let's go, the meeting's about to start."

Just a moment ago, Alex thought Raymond felt something for Selena. After all, he'd given himself to her for the first time and kissed her in front of everyone.

Compared to his innocent relationship with Olivia, his thing with Selena was definitely more complicated.

But now, knowing Selena might be in trouble, he stayed cold. Was there really no difference?

Alex looked away and chuckled.

"Raymond, I've always wondered. After spending a night with her, do you ever think about it?"

Raymond, who had been scrolling through documents, tensed up at the question.

As the car passed Alex's neighborhood, Raymond's tone was flat. "Get out."

Alex shrugged. As he got out, he couldn't resist a parting shot.

"You're not a virgin anymore, so why are you still so uptight about this? They say once a guy loses it, he can't stop. Especially someone like you, who buries himself in work. Now that you've had a taste, can you really stay abstinent?"

Raymond's response was the sound of the car door closing.

In the front seat, John pretended not to hear Alex's words. As a screenwriter, Alex often talked openly about sex, even more bluntly than most.

Or more accurately, these topics were blunt to Raymond.

After all, other guys in the industry talked about women just like Alex.

If a woman didn't have a powerful family, her fate was even worse.

For women who still loved a man who didn't love them back, men could be the most heartless.

They wouldn't just be unkind or unforgiving; they could be downright cruel.

In this industry, many who were used to being top dogs had lost their humanity.

Plus, women's status in the business world was way lower than men's. It was a harsh truth.

Raymond had seen the bullying of career women during his three years abroad.

Age, marital status, and even refusing to play by the unspoken rules could all be reasons to reject a woman from a job.

Raymond, passionate about his work, never got involved in choosing female companions, so no one dared to ask him such questions.

Now, the car was silent, his laptop still on his lap.

Because he had stopped scrolling, the screen had gone dark.

In this quiet moment, he felt something unusual within himself.

Alex's question had dragged his thoughts back to that night.

Or maybe not that night, but the last time she wore a casual nightgown, showing off large areas of smooth skin.

And those tempting breasts hidden under the fabric, all of it was messing with his head.
