Chapter 267 Selena is a Married Woman
Raymond's eyes weren't cold anymore; they were blazing with intensity.
But Raymond being Raymond, he kept it cool, way more composed than most folks.
So, he just kept staring at his computer screen, trying to shake off those steamy thoughts.
Plus, Selena was a married woman.
Selena made a bunch of calls to the hospital, but it was still the same story: alcohol poisoning.
The cops were already on it. But with the surveillance footage trashed, they told Paddy's family to brace for the worst.
Selena had a gut feeling Paddy's death was linked to whatever he wanted to tell her.
She went to see Paddy's wife first. Paddy might've been serious and stiff, but he was tight with his wife and always put family first.
Selena had met her before. But since Paddy cut ties with her, things had gotten awkward.
Right now, Paddy's wife was sitting in the hallway, crying her eyes out.
"I need to know, has Uncle Lewis been anywhere else lately?"
The woman stopped crying. In just a few hours, she looked like she'd aged years.
"He's been sticking to his routine for years. Ever since he got diagnosed with high blood pressure and high uric acid, he quit drinking. I can't believe he drank himself to death."
She covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face. "He didn't go anywhere. His focus was always the company. Tonight, after coming home, he was restless, then he went out. First time in months."
Turned out to be the last time he went out.
The woman broke down, sobbing on another family member's shoulder.
Selena caught the key clue. Paddy was restless after coming home from the company today. After some mental struggle, he sent her that text.
What did he find at the company?
Thinking about the Fair family's company, Selena couldn't help but think of Beatrice and Nick. With James in the hospital, she wondered what kind of mess those two had made of the place.
Nick might look decent, but he was a snake and knew zilch about running a company.
She figured she needed to check out the company.
At dawn, Selena headed straight to the Fair family's company.
She hadn't been there much since she grew up, so it felt a bit strange.
At Paddy's workstation, she opened the drawer to take a look.
Paddy's desk was neatly arranged, with only his familiar cup on it. Selena recognized it; he had used that cup for years always kept it with him.
Since he went home last night, the cup should've been taken back with him.
Unless he was too flustered and forgot it.
She then went to the surveillance room to check out Paddy's movements yesterday.
Selena was so focused she didn't notice someone else entering the room.
Nick locked the door and slowly walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Selena, why didn't you tell me you were here? I could've given you a tour."
Selena shuddered, feeling like a snake had wrapped around her, utterly disgusted.
She pushed him away, eyeing him warily.
Nick raised his hand and sniffed his fingertips.
"Smells nice. Wearing perfume today?"
His eyes roamed over Selena from head to toe, like she was naked.
His gaze was dark, full of intent.
Selena glanced at the door, which was already locked. She frowned and pulled out her phone to make a call. But Nick was quicker, knocking it out of her hand.
"Selena, since you walked into the trap today, don't bother running. I've missed you all these years."
Nick looked at her and kicked the phone away.
Selena sneered. "Now that Dad's not here, you're dropping the act?"
Nick had been eyeing Selena for a long time. Even before moving into the Fair family, he had his sights set on her, wanting to devour her whole.
Now that Selena was alone and helpless, he was thrilled, pulling her closer.
"Stop pretending!"
After going to the hospital, how clean could she be!
The mask was off, revealing his most hideous and disgusting true face.
Nick's face was flushed with excitement.
