Chapter 41

Joseph got even cockier and reached out to pinch Alice's chin.

Alice was terrified, her eyes shut tight, and her eyelashes quivering.

"Take her away. As for you, come upstairs with me. I've got something exciting to show you," Joseph said.

Selena figured Joseph wouldn't really hurt her. At Sky Gallery, all she had to do was call out, and professional bodyguards would be there in a flash.

But this place was a hotspot for the rich. If she got publicly humiliated, her reputation would be toast.

Selena had business to handle. If she got blacklisted, moving in high society would be a nightmare.

"Mr. Anderson, by 'exciting,' do you mean the casino upstairs?" Selena asked.

Joseph frowned and started heading upstairs. "Yeah, looks like you've played before."

Selena kept quiet. Seeing Alice on the verge of tears, she said, "Let her go first, Mr. Anderson. I'll play with you."

Joseph was more into Selena than Alice, so he didn't hesitate. "Fine, but you better make sure I have a good time tonight."

Selena glanced at Alice, still puzzled why she came to the bar.

"Alice, you should head back now," Selena said.

The bodyguard let go of Alice, whose face turned even paler. "But Selena, you..."

"I'm fine," Selena said coolly. "You better explain why you came to a place like this alone."

Alice lowered her head, biting her lip in panic. It was because Raymond was here tonight. She just wanted to see him up close and couldn't resist.

She hadn't expected to run into Selena. Selena was usually so frugal; how could she afford a $2 million membership card?

"I'm sorry, Selena. I know it's my fault. I'll leave right away." Alice glanced longingly upstairs before walking away, looking dejected.

Selena followed Joseph. When Joseph tried to put his arm around her waist, she said, "Mr. Montague is very possessive. He wouldn't want anyone else touching what he's interested in."

Joseph's face darkened. So Selena had already figured out his intentions.

Joseph was suddenly both embarrassed and angry. "You knew Raymond was here. Are you toying with me?"

"I was just kindly reminding you, Mr. Anderson," Selena smiled innocently, but to Joseph, it was a provocation.

"Do you really think sleeping with Raymond will make him care about you? Just wait and see," Joseph said.

As they spoke, Selena and Joseph reached the third floor.

Waiters in black and white uniforms and waitresses carrying drinks moved among the tables, each surrounded by people engrossed in their games.

Selena immediately spotted Raymond sitting in the center. Raymond seemed uninterested in the game, holding a glass of wine and casually pushing his chips forward after glancing at his cards.

Alex, sitting next to Raymond, chuckled at his distracted demeanor. "No wonder you're here to waste money."

Half of Raymond's chips had already been lost, while the others at the table were raking in their winnings, their eyes fixed on Raymond with eager anticipation.

Raymond sat there calmly, barely glancing at his cards, exuding an air of indifference. Clearly, he didn't care about the money.

Selena quickly looked away and noticed Joseph had already approached the table.

Joseph smiled and spoke politely, "Is this table short of two players?"

He moved closer to Selena and pulled out a chair for her. "Penny and I are free. Let's play together. Mr. Montague, you don't mind, do you?"

With this, Raymond looked up.

Joseph was a member of their social circle. Despite his lecherous and arrogant tendencies, he got along well with everyone.

Raymond didn't speak, but Alex did. "It's a treat to see Mr. Anderson with some free time! Let's play together."

Alex had a delicate and refined appearance, with a mole on his nose. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Selena. "Mr. Anderson, have you changed your companion?"

Selena had hurried out, wearing a silk gown and no makeup, not even lipstick. But compared to the heavily made-up women in the room, Selena's elegance and poise stood out.

From the moment she entered, the men couldn't help but steal glances at her.

A serene beauty like Selena was a rare sight in their social circle.
