Chapter 251 Only Soft-hearted When It Comes to Feelings
Beatrice's legs felt like jelly as she finally made it upstairs.
She barely managed to steady herself against the wall to keep from collapsing.
Unable to take the stress any longer, she called Nick and spilled everything.
Nick's voice on the other end was furious.
"Do you even realize the mess you've made? Keeping Kenny around is one thing, but actually trusting him?"
Beatrice felt a pang of regret. "What was I supposed to do? James caught us red-handed. If he wakes up, we'll all get kicked out."
Nick was anxious too but had to admit Kenny had done the right thing.
Given the situation, they couldn't let James wake up.
But he was still pissed that Beatrice kept bringing people to the Fair family villa for her affairs. Last time, they almost got caught by Selena, who had come back unexpectedly. He thought she'd be more careful, but nope.
"I don't know what kind of hold he has on you!"
Nick's face was dark. It was clear Kenny had his own agenda.
Even if they managed to kill James, the Fair family shares would never go to an outsider like Kenny.
"Nick, what do we do now? Selena's watching James like a hawk, and I can't find an opening. If James wakes up..."
Talking to Nick calmed Beatrice down a bit.
"How should I know? The Fair family is a mess right now. All our projects are getting blocked, and the higher-ups are in chaos. You really know how to stir up trouble!"
Nick's scolding made Beatrice feel ashamed, but she couldn't argue back.
If she had another chance, she would never have let Kenny convince her to send the servants away and have an affair in the villa, leading to this mess.
Nick took a deep breath. "Even if Dad wakes up from the ICU, it'll be a while before he can talk. Don't panic, and don't let Selena see any cracks."
Thinking of Selena made Nick's throat tighten.
If James died and Raymond kept ignoring his wife, then no one would stop him from doing what he wanted.
With that thought, James's death seemed almost justified.
Nick felt a bit better and advised Beatrice.
"Don't let Kenny control you anymore. With money, you can find any man you want. One mistake is enough."
Beatrice, though sharp-tongued, had a soft spot when it came to emotions.
Her first man was a jerk, but she stuck it out for a long time because of Nick, always hoping he'd change. A few sweet words from him, and she'd forget about the Rockefeller family issues, thinking her good days were just around the corner.
Later, the guy ran off with someone else, and she met James. At first, she was sincere with him. But James kept letting her down, and she started having other thoughts.
Even before marrying James, she had her eyes on Kenny, who was younger and better-looking than James.
She took a bold step to seduce him, and to her surprise, they both had the same idea.
Kenny completely filled her long-lonely heart.
Moreover, his sweet words were irresistible, and Beatrice was utterly captivated.
She became increasingly indifferent to James, only wanting the Fair family's money.
"I get it. Actually, Kenny isn't that bad."
But the call was quickly disconnected, and Beatrice said no more as she entered Alice's ward.
Alice's health was failing, and she was furious after seeing the photo Selena had sent, smashing all the cups around her.
"Bitch! That damned bitch!"
When Beatrice pushed the door open, she saw the floor littered with broken porcelain.
"What's wrong?"
Alice took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
"I'm almost recovered. I need to be discharged, or Olivia will take Raymond."
When it came to Raymond, Beatrice had no solution either.
He could intercept the Fair family's business with a snap of his fingers, beyond their control.
Beatrice hugged her.
"Don't worry. William called the shots on Selena and Raymond's marriage. As long as William doesn't speak up, Olivia will remain a mistress. She grew up pampered in the Stone family and won't tolerate this humiliation. She'll eventually self-destruct. You just need to make your presence felt in front of Raymond."
Comforted by this, Alice sighed in relief.
"Didn't Nick say he was going to take Selena? When is that happening?"
She couldn't stand it any longer. Olivia and Selena were both bitches!
"Soon, just wait a little longer."
