Chapter 1383 Just as I Thought

They held each other until their emotions settled. Selena's fingertips eventually traced the outline of his chest wound.

"Don't ever do this again," she whispered.

"I won't."

Her fingers, adorned with her engagement ring, curled slightly against his skin. "When this is all over, let's get married."

Raymond's heart fluttered as he buried his face in her neck. "Yes. Let's get married."

Selena gently took his hand, their ring-bearing fingers intertwining.

"I remember everything now," she said quietly. "From the first day I went to that mansion with K, I was already being subtly conditioned. He was very confident in his methods."

"It was Victor, wasn't it?"

Selena pressed herself closer. "I always felt K seemed familiar, but I never connected him to Dr. Barnes. The twin identity was the perfect cover. Now that he's gone to such lengths with this charade, he's exposed himself completely—though he probably doesn't realize I've regained my memories."

She gripped Raymond's hand, her expression calm and resolute.

"I know where his mansion is. We could launch a surprise attack, let our overconfident Dr. Barnes taste defeat."

"What do you have in mind?"

Selena leaned in, whispering her plan in his ear.

Raymond raised an eyebrow and smiled. "I was thinking the same thing."

At 2 AM, over twenty helicopters took off toward their target.

By 3 AM, small missiles rained down on the mansion where Selena had been kept.

The occupants had no warning—only the successive explosions that shattered the night.

In Silver Bay City, Raymond had been bold enough to crush someone's mansion with his vehicle. Here in Vistalia, he could be even more ruthless.

The fighting arena business already operated in the shadows, with authorities turning a blind eye.

Seated in one of the helicopters, Selena felt the wind whipping around her and smiled. Raymond sat beside her, piloting the aircraft. As he watched the flames below, he sighed. "Too bad Victor's in the city."

If Victor had been inside, they couldn't have killed him outright, but he would certainly have been severely injured.

Selena's plan had been straightforward: destroy the place completely. Even if this wasn't BK's ultimate headquarters, it was clearly an important facility.

Its destruction would give Victor more than a headache—it would humiliate and confuse him.

Selena watched the devastation through binoculars with satisfaction, though her expression hardened when she spotted people below.

Before making this decision, she had shared everything she knew with Raymond, and they had reached the same conclusion: even if Victor allowed her to assume leadership, he would never truly relinquish control.

They reasoned that if a man had already attained supreme power, would he willingly step back for a woman? Especially when everyone in BK followed K's orders without question, yet Selena, as the incoming leader, was still being undermined by Agent 002.

Not to mention Agent 003, who wanted her dead.

These two agents represented the broader sentiment within BK—a sudden female leader couldn't command respect. Ultimate authority would remain with Victor.

Zaid and Atlas were BK's true leaders. No matter how hard Selena tried, she would only ever be their puppet.

Victor would even force her to cut ties with Raymond completely.

What was the point of becoming stronger if not to be with the person she loved?

That's why she and Raymond had agreed so readily—if BK was an obstacle, they would destroy it.

But Raymond had one lingering concern: if Barbara was connected to BK, what would Selena do when she eventually met Barbara?
