Chapter 217 Are You Worthy of Him, or More Than Enough
It was late at night when Selena noticed the IV drip was done and took out the needle.
Just as she stood up, Raymond woke up and looked at her.
"You're awake?" Selena asked.
Raymond's voice was rough. He glanced at the ceiling and rubbed his temples.
"Hospital?"
"Yeah, you had a fever."
"Why are you here?"
"My relative's also in the hospital. I ran into you. Feeling better?"
Raymond's back was killing him, but the meds had kicked in, and he wasn't burning up anymore.
He sighed in relief, thinking about William's recent antics, his face turning serious.
Using the Montague Group's work as an excuse wasn't gonna cut it anymore. William was hell-bent on making that woman have the baby.
He let out a cold laugh.
Selena heard it and knew William had really pissed him off this time.
She watched Raymond grab his phone and call John.
"Check if the Fair family contacted William today."
Last time, he gave them a warning. If they kept this up, they couldn't blame him for being ruthless.
In less than five minutes, John's call came through.
"Sir, James did call William."
Raymond's face turned dark. "Block all the Fair family's recent business dealings."
Last time, he went easy on them, but they took it for granted.
Selena sat beside him, listening to his cold, disdainful orders.
But she couldn't argue.
She should've seen this coming before her dad made that call.
Raymond wasn't someone the Fair family could control.
After hanging up, Raymond looked at Selena.
Selena's face was blank as she asked, "Want some water?"
Her eyes were bright and clear, like she didn't care about his family drama.
"Yeah."
Selena poured a glass of water and handed it to him.
Raymond thought of her family member and frowned.
"Who's in your family that's hospitalized?"
"My husband."
Raising an eyebrow, he sneered, "STD?"
Selena was about to pour herself a glass of water but stopped, looking at him in disbelief.
Realizing she didn't know about her husband's cheating, Raymond said indifferently, "Just a joke."
Selena felt both angry and amused. But in the end, it all turned into helplessness.
"Not a great joke."
Raymond wasn't known for his humor, but his words could be pretty sharp. Like when he first mistook Selena for a certain type of woman.
When he was cold, he was also pretty unapproachable.
Hearing her words, Raymond quietly held the water cup.
Selena always defended her husband, not knowing how many times he had betrayed her. It was pitiful.
"How'd you meet him?"
It was late, the lights in the ward were dim, and it was quiet, with only the occasional sound of nurses in the hallway.
"Introduced by elders. He wasn't very satisfied with me."
Hearing this, Raymond almost instinctively replied, "Should he get his eyes checked?"
Selena's lips pressed together, and she couldn't help but smile.
"Everyone has their own preferences. Besides, I'm not money; I can't be liked by everyone. Even money has its detractors. Once you understand that, it's easier."
Her eyes were very clear, and when she spoke of this, there was even a slight hint of regret.
"To be honest, I'm not good enough for him."
Raymond's tone was cold, and because he was ill, it had a hoarse undertone.
"Don't put yourself down. You are more than enough for him."
