Chapter 361 First Love Really Is the Best
If Selena hadn't moved back in time, the car window would've snagged her hair.
She watched the car drive off and couldn't help but laugh.
She quickly texted Carter: [Just saw him. Raymond told me not to get too full of myself. You should look for Olivia; she's riding shotgun with him right now.]
Carter actually called Olivia, who answered with a smile and said she'd check.
After hanging up, she looked at Raymond. "Carter called me too. Seems like he's really into his girlfriend this time. Maybe he's serious, Raymond. How about letting her come back?"
Raymond didn't say anything, just stared straight ahead.
When he wasn't smiling, his eyes looked sharp and deep.
After a long pause, he chuckled, "All this fuss over a receptionist job?"
Olivia let out a sigh of relief, her face turning sweet again. "Yeah, it's just a receptionist job. Why make a big deal with Carter over it?"
Raymond went back to his calm self, lightly tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
His fingers were really something.
"Fine, let her come back."
Olivia's eyes lit up. Thinking about Raymond's attitude towards Selena and herself, she felt more at ease.
She quickly texted Carter.
Seeing Olivia's text, Carter couldn't help but send a text to Selena.
Carter: [Sorry for getting you scolded by Raymond. Olivia really came through; it took less than two minutes for Raymond to agree.]
Selena was both amused and annoyed. So she got scolded for nothing.
At least compared to what James had done to her, it was nothing, so she didn't think it was that big of a deal..
In the hospital, James was still rubbing his temples while Beatrice and Alice fussed over him.
James felt inexplicably irritated and uncomfortable, thinking about Selena's look just now. "You two go out first. I need some quiet time alone."
Beatrice and Alice exchanged glances.
Alice knew her chance had come.
She signaled Beatrice to leave together.
Once the two went to Nick's room, Alice spoke up, "Mom, this is our best chance. Dad is off guard now, and the two bodyguards at the door are gone. As long as I inject the poison into his body, he's dead meat! By then, the Fair family will be ours!"
Alice was almost impatient.
Beatrice, however, was feeling troubled. "How can you be so selfish? Don't you see Nick is still lying in bed? Aren't you worried about his life at all? And Kenny is missing too. I'm so anxious right now, how can I dare to harm James!"
Alice had been in a bad mood lately, and Beatrice's scolding made her angry. "Nick tried to harm Selena and got trapped by her. Who can he blame? If he hadn't tried to rape Selena, would he be in this situation? And you knew he had those thoughts about Selena and didn't stop him! You even had an affair with Kenny. I bet he ran away, leaving you to face the police!"
Beatrice slapped her hard.
A recorder shaped like a pen on the table captured their entire argument.
This was Selena's preparation before leaving the hospital.
She believed that with their selfish nature, they would definitely argue over Nick.
At this moment, the door to the ward was knocked, and a nurse came in to do a case study.
After finishing, she saw a pen left behind and thought it was from the previous nurse, so she took it with her.
