Chapter 233 Just a Kiss

Selena was a bit confused; she hadn't done anything to tick him off.

Hopping into the car, she noticed Raymond already buried in his documents. He wasn't rocking the same suit as yesterday; today, it was a sharp gray number. Honestly, the guy could make anything look good with that build of his.

The sunlight hit just right on his brow, giving him this noble, almost untouchable vibe.

As soon as Selena shut the car door, she heard Rosalind's voice outside. Before long, Rosalind, toting a bag, squeezed into the car.

"Raymond, I need to get to school too. Since it's on your way, can you give me a lift?"

Raymond glanced up from his papers, his chin slightly raised, voice cool. "I'm staying in Ridgefield for a few more days; not heading back to Silver Bay City today."

Rosalind had already made herself comfortable in the car, inching closer to him.

"That's fine. I can go to Ridgefield."

Selena watched them cozy up and couldn't help but find her own situation a bit funny.

She didn't butt in, just turned to gaze out the window.

The car started moving.

Even in the car, Rosalind couldn't sit still. Seeing Raymond busy with his documents, she wisely didn't bug him and turned her attention to Selena instead.

"Are you really married? Sharing a car with another guy, won't your husband get jealous?"

Wasn't she also in Raymond's car?

"He doesn't interfere with my work."

"How could a guy not interfere if he cares about you?"

After that, Rosalind turned to Raymond, her admiration for him clear as day.

"And being around a guy like Raymond, your husband should feel threatened, right? Why hasn't he called you?"

Rosalind was genuinely curious now. Knowing Selena was married, her hostility towards her faded.

After all, someone like Raymond wouldn't mess around with a married woman.

Selena smiled sweetly. "A good marriage should give each other some space, right? Keeping a bit of mystery is important too."

Hearing this, Raymond's pen paused, and he thought of Lucas kissing someone else in public.

If a marriage needed that kind of space, wouldn't that just open the door for a third party?

Rosalind stopped talking too; she had nothing in common with a married woman.

Selena pretended to rest, leaning back in the seat and lightly dozing off.

She wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but Raymond seemed quieter than usual.

Thinking about the sudden kiss last night, Selena frowned.

Even though she didn't want to admit it, in that moment, a gentle kiss could easily make her knees weak.

What was he thinking?

But she didn't dare to ask.

So she played dumb.

Two hours later, the car pulled up to the courtyard. Selena still had to deal with her uncle's family matters, so she bent down to thank Raymond.

"Thanks."

Raymond glanced at her, his tone cool. "No problem."

It was clearly distant.

Selena figured last night was just a moment of adult confusion. Now that he was sober, he regretted it and wanted to keep his distance.

But she really wanted to tell him he was overthinking it.

It was just a kiss.

But she kept quiet. She saw Rosalind get out of the car and skillfully link her arm with Raymond's.

"You live here? Then I'll stay here tonight too."

Raymond's eyebrows furrowed slightly, but he didn't say anything.

Rosalind looked up, eager for Selena to leave quickly.

"If you're leaving, you can go now. Goodbye."

She sweetly clung to Raymond's arm, unable to hide the smile on her face.
