Chapter 1387 Ambition Gone Too Far

Atlas lounged on the sofa, casually teasing a cat with dried fish between his fingertips, his expression playful.

Suddenly, the cat flashed its claws, leaving three bloody scratches across the back of his hand.

Frowning, he tossed the fish aside, and the cat darted after it.

Across the room, Zaid sat deep in thought. He'd always prided himself on staying three steps ahead, but now things felt like they were spiraling out of control.

His phone kept ringing with calls from survivors of the destroyed villa. The core members had survived with injuries, but several trainees in development had died.

While not enough to cripple Victor's operation, it was certainly a humiliating blow.

His phone rang again—003 calling.

"Mr. K, 002 is dead."

002 had her hamstrings severed and couldn't run like the others. When the bombs fell, she was the first casualty.

003 barely survived herself. She'd been punished earlier for deliberately letting someone escape during Selena's operation. Victor had spared her life, but tonight she was severely injured and barely mobile.

Everyone had scattered and regrouped at other locations, but news of the attack had already spread throughout the organization.

"Mr. K, headquarters is contacting me. They want to know what happened tonight."

The BK was a massive organization, with operatives numbered 002 through 009 being groomed as potential successor leaders. Victor controlled all of them.

"What are they saying?" Victor massaged his temples.

"They need you to explain personally."

As K, Victor stood above thousands in the BK hierarchy, but directly below him were ten influential leaders. Most were loyal to him, but one or two consistently caused trouble.

Whenever something went wrong, these two would emerge from the woodwork, even accusing him of secretly preventing the search for Barbara because he wanted to become BK's permanent leader.

Victor's reputation was so formidable that most dismissed these two as stubborn fools.

Yet Victor couldn't eliminate them—they were world-class hypnotists. Globally, there were fewer than five hypnotists with their level of skill: Victor, Barbara, and these two accounted for four of them.

If they died, Victor would have to remain at BK to train the next generation in hypnosis techniques, which he clearly didn't have time for.

Despite their opposition, they were exceptional mentors to new recruits. They had even trained Victor himself years ago—the main reason they were still alive.

Now they were challenging him again, dredging up the past.

"Wasn't he just a stray Barbara brought in? She showed him mercy, and once she disappeared, he's done nothing but consolidate his position in the organization. The man's ambitious to a fault."

"The leadership position will always belong to Barbara. Until she returns, K can never be the legitimate leader!"

Victor had grown weary of these accusations.

Sitting on the sofa, he continued pondering how the facility had been destroyed.

Atlas glanced at his scratched hand. "Zaid, should we send someone to check out the underground fighting arena?"

"Not yet. Raymond's arena may seem chaotic, but there's order within the chaos. After bombing our facility, his security will be at its highest. Going there now would only expose us further."

"So what's our move?"

Zaid's lips curved into a smile as he casually pushed away the cat seeking attention. "Don't forget, Mario is still with Raymond. Christopher may be loyal to Raymond, but Mario is a wild card," he replied.
