Chapter 59 Albert's Brown-nosing Behavior

Samantha was shaking with nerves. Emily had just come out of the restroom and helped her change clothes in the staff room.

Emily had a thing for Caterlington. While Samantha were changing, Emily mentioned seeing Caterlington, Henry from Vanguard Group, and even brought up Selena and that time Selena bumped into her.

Samantha resented Selena. When she saw the bracelet on Emily's wrist, she cooked up a plan.

After hiding Emily's bracelet, Emily soon noticed it was missing. Samantha then suggested, "Maybe it got stolen when you got bumped?"

With that hint, Emily immediately thought of Selena and went looking for her.

Right now, Emily didn't think she did anything wrong and hated Selena even more. If Selena hadn't stolen it, then wouldn't the blame have fallen on her instead?

Caterlington was right there, and Emily would rather die than be embarrassed in front of him. So when Samantha spoke up, Emily jumped in, "Yeah, she stole it. I saw it with my own eyes. Plus, the spot where she was standing is a blind spot for the cameras. How could it have been recorded? I think she's just stalling for time!"

Albert agreed, but Emily and Samantha objected, leaving the security guards stuck in the middle.

Albert then looked at Raymond, "Mr. Montague, what do you think..."

Raymond's face turned cold. Albert, the principal, was showing such a lack of decisiveness.

"John, go get the footage." His tone was indifferent, his expression icy.

Albert didn't dare delay any longer and sternly told the security guards, "Take Mr. Walker over there."

Selena found Albert's brown-nosing behavior amusing, but she couldn't bring herself to smile. After all, Silver Bay University was her alma mater.

Albert had snagged the principal position over another candidate because he was a suck-up.

If he stayed as principal, more students like Selena would be wronged. It was good for the investors to see his true colors.

In the center of the art exhibit were some couches with waitstaff serving water.

Raymond walked towards the couches, looking like he planned to wait for the results himself.

Selena knew Raymond wasn't standing up for her. The Montague Group, as the biggest investor in Silver Bay University, couldn't let Albert embarrass them today.

Raymond was a businessman, only caring if the investment was worth it.

As Raymond walked away, Mia quickly approached, worried Selena would get bullied, and dragged her to follow Raymond.

Selena felt a bit helpless but didn't resist, knowing Mia genuinely had her back.

Mia pressed Selena's shoulders, making her sit next to Raymond.

Selena could sense Raymond's aura getting colder, but she wasn't sure if it was because she was sitting so close.

Albert and the others stood around awkwardly, not knowing what to do.

Albert, not wanting to upset Emily, took his frustration out on Samantha, "Look at the mess you've made! Why did you argue with her?"

Samantha's face went pale. She had just become Department Chair. If this incident hurt the school's reputation, she might lose her position.

She had worked too hard for too long to let it all fall apart now.

Samantha shot a resentful glare at Selena.

Emily noticed Samantha's look and quickly reassured her, "Ms. Stone, don't worry. The police and Mr. Walker are going to check the surveillance. Let's see how smug she is then!"

Samantha's lips started to tremble, regretting her plan.

What should she do now?

An idea popped into Samantha's head.

There were no cameras in the staff room. Even if Selena didn't steal the bracelet, it couldn't be proven that Samantha took it on purpose. With this thought, she felt a bit relieved.

She sneered coldly, looking at Selena's back with venom in her eyes.

Selena seemed oblivious to the tense atmosphere and turned to Raymond, "Mr. Montague, did you review the proposals from last night?"

Raymond didn't even look at her, his tone indifferent, "If you have ideas, just implement them. No need to tell me."

In other words, he hadn't looked at those proposals.

Communicating proposals with the employer was basic protocol. How could she proceed without his input?

But Raymond's attitude clearly showed he didn't want to engage with her, so she wisely kept quiet.

Almost as soon as John produced the surveillance footage, the cop arrived.

John stood before Raymond, bowing respectfully, "Mr. Montague, we've reviewed the footage. After Ms. Adams and Ms. Cooper collided, Ms. Adams still had the bracelet on her wrist until she entered the staff room. It must have fallen off there."

After speaking, Raymond's gaze shifted to Emily.

Emily frowned. "Are you sure? I felt like she stole it."

John nodded. "The surveillance clearly shows it."

Despite her reluctance, Emily had to back down for now, planning to deal with Selena later.

Then Emily continued, "But I didn't do anything wrong. It's fair for me to ask her to apologize. She spoke to me rudely and badmouthed the Adams family."
