Chapter 265 You and Olivia were Together Back Then

Selena's head was spinning, feeling like she was in some kind of weird dream.

Just forty minutes ago, she got a call from Paddy, and now she was hearing he was dead.

The bar got sealed off real quick, but of course, the surveillance cameras were conveniently busted. The only footage they had was of Paddy walking into the hotel lobby; everything else was gone.

The cops did a thorough check and decided Paddy had drowned his sorrows in booze, leading to alcohol poisoning. They temporarily ruled out any foul play.

The bar's cleanliness was a joke. The private room was covered in overlapping fingerprints, like a fingerprint convention. Even if they wanted to check each one, it would take forever. Plus, most of the prints were smudged. Besides slapping the bar with a fine for lousy security, there wasn't much else they could do.

Selena stood in the hospital corridor, not sure how to wrap her head around the news.

Paddy's family showed up fast, and soon the hallway was filled with crying.

Selena had been in the hospital a lot lately, so she was kind of used to the sound of people crying.

She rubbed her temples. The only message on her phone was the one Paddy had sent, but she had already given it to the cops. They said they'd keep investigating, but Paddy's death was a done deal.

Selena went back to the hotel, which was now taped off, and all the guests had been kicked out.

After the incident, the place was locked down.

But the cops didn't question anyone since the doctor confirmed alcohol poisoning as the cause of death, and Paddy had been alone in the private room the whole time. Even though he had planned to meet Selena, she was still on her way when he stopped breathing.

It was now midnight. Selena kept bugging the bar owner about the surveillance. But the owner was also being grilled by the cops and was super nervous.

No answers were coming.

With a crowd gathering around, Selena had no choice but to leave.

At the bar where Raymond was, everyone was wrapping up and getting ready to call it a night.

Olivia had a few drinks and had been waiting for Raymond's wife to show up, but she never did, not even a single text.

Feeling pretty smug, Olivia told Raymond, "I actually told your wife to come get you, but she never showed. Looks like she doesn't care much about you. That's great; now I can be with you without any guilt."

Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes sparkled as she looked at Raymond, like she was about to kiss him any second.

A few people from their circle were around them, all egging them on.

Olivia raised her hand to wrap it around Raymond's neck, but Raymond looked at Sofia and said, "Your car's outside. You should head back."

Sofia didn't expect Raymond to talk to her suddenly, and her cheeks turned red.

But with Olivia there, she didn't dare show it too obviously and grabbed Olivia.

"Let's go."

Olivia wasn't actually drunk; she was faking it. She held onto Raymond, speaking in a playful tone, "Raymond, aren't you gonna take me home?"

Raymond's phone rang; it was an overseas meeting. He made a pause gesture to Olivia and then walked aside, speaking in a clear tone, "I understand. Send the documents over now."

After hanging up, he continued to instruct Sofia. "I have another meeting in half an hour. Take Olivia home and make sure to cook her some oatmeal."

Sofia nodded repeatedly, watching Raymond get into the car.

Alex got into the car with Raymond.

Sitting in the car, Alex saw Raymond immediately grab his laptop to handle work stuff and couldn't help but chuckle.

"Your long-lost first love suddenly comes back, and you've been busy with overseas meetings these past few days. Raymond, if you hadn't been together before, I would have thought she was just an ordinary friend."

Raymond's attention was entirely on the laptop screen, clearly already processing the new documents.

Alex looked out the window and raised an eyebrow when he noticed someone outside.

"Isn't that Selena?"
