Chapter 1524 The Place to Imprison Her

Somewhere in Vistalia

The man stared at the video feed, watching Octavia surrounded by strangers. He could hear every word they spoke, and a slow smile curved his lips.

His obsession with controlling Octavia ran deep—he'd originally planned to retrieve her during the chaos and bring her to his side.

But where else could he ever find a sanctuary this perfect, hidden beneath the earth? This place was his life's work—conceived in childhood, built for one reason only: to keep her caged. He had poured every ounce of his heart and soul into crafting the ultimate gilded prison.

The people on screen seemed aware they were being watched, speaking in hushed tones and mostly communicating through text messages.

The man observed the surveillance feed with infinite patience. As long as Octavia remained within his sight, under his control, he was content.

Watching a proud woman gradually stripped of her dignity, trained into perfect obedience—this was his masterpiece.

His smile widened when someone knocked at the door, announcing visitors. His brow furrowed slightly as he left the monitoring room.

Reaching the ground floor parlor, he found Zaid seated in the main hall with Atlas, his ever-present shadow, beside him.

"What brings you two here?" the man asked.

Zaid looked up at him. The only reason he'd avoided direct confrontation with Emilio was because of this man—Manuel Barnett, who had connections to the research facility. Within the BK organization, only he and Manuel had ties to that place.

Manuel owned Mystic Prison and had spent years supplying test subjects to the research facility, earning himself a seat at their table. Since both men were connected to the facility, there'd been no need for open hostility.

Who could have predicted that Emilio would be the first to force a confrontation?

"Mr. Barnett, where's Emilio?" Zaid's expression remained gentle.

"Dead after a full day of torture. His body was dumped outside—whether the bombs destroyed it depends on his luck." Manuel spoke without a trace of mercy for the boy he'd watched grow up.

Zaid raised an eyebrow knowingly and chuckled softly. "Mr. Barnett, I thought you might show him some mercy."

But Manuel showed mercy to no one.

Manuel said nothing, taking a seat nearby. He knew he'd been soft-hearted once—with Octavia. Unfortunately, she'd been ungrateful, so becoming his plaything was her own doing.

Fate determined everything; humans controlled nothing.

Manuel studied the two visitors. The research facility was shrouded in secrecy, but he was certain these men were insiders. Their exact roles remained unclear—after all, no one at that place shared information. Everyone's files were classified, known only to the highest echelons.

Zaid set down his teacup. "My failure this time was because of Emilio. Now that he's dead, I find myself somewhat regretful."

Emilio had been capable, with a ruthlessness that rivaled Manuel's. No one understood why he'd suddenly helped Selena—as if he'd been possessed. Human nature was indeed complex.

"What's the purpose of today's visit?" Manuel inquired.

"I want to confirm whether Octavia is still alive." Zaid smiled as he spoke, his gaze fixed unflinchingly on Manuel.

Minutes before the explosion, he'd learned Octavia was in Mystic Prison. Since Mystic Prison was Manuel's domain, only he could have hidden her for so many years. The question now was whether Octavia was dead or alive.

Manuel's expression remained impassive. "You've been searching for her all these years. Haven't you grown up yet?"

The words were clearly mocking.

Years ago, Octavia had brought Zaid into BK, but after her disappearance, he'd shown no grief—instead seizing the opportunity to consolidate power within the organization.

Atlas watched Zaid with curiosity, wondering why this man was so obsessed with finding Octavia.

He'd even orchestrated elaborate schemes, manipulating Octavia's daughter like a puppet master.

What was his true motivation?

Atlas spoke quietly. "I want to know... do I finally have the right now...?"
