Chapter 120 He Got Hurt Protecting Me

Selena was caught off guard. She saw a fierce glint in Raymond's eyes as he kicked the guy away.

The thugs, realizing they were in over their heads, scrambled to their feet and took off, helping each other as they went.

"Mr. Montague! Let me take you to the hospital." Selena grabbed Raymond's hand, her fingers trembling a bit.

But those high heels were a pain, and her leg was killing her.

Raymond frowned; his right hand was messed up, making things tricky.

He watched as Selena ditched her heels and stood barefoot, looking more panicked than he'd ever seen her.

Raymond got hurt because of her. If Catherine found out, she'd be in deep trouble.

Plus, she owed Raymond big time for tonight.

Selena hopped into Raymond's car and yanked Jacob, who was trying to bail. "You're coming with me too!"

Jacob, being his usual useless self, was scared of Selena. Seeing the fancy car, he was too freaked out to get in.

Selena didn't waste words and shoved him into the passenger seat.

John, the driver, saw Raymond was hurt and floored it to the nearest hospital.

A few minutes earlier, Selena had caused a traffic jam by getting out of the car.

In her rush to catch Jacob, she didn't notice the no-parking sign.

As the honking and cursing from the cars behind got louder, Alice told the driver, "Let's go. I'll call Selena and let her know. Maybe she'll catch another ride to the Montague Villa later."

The driver had no choice, and with the banquet about to start, they couldn't be late.

So, they headed to the Montague Villa.

Alice watched the place get closer, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.

This was her first time meeting Raymond in such a big setting.

Before, she could only sneak glances from afar, and he probably thought she was just some random girl.

Only during their last meeting did Raymond show any emotion, but it was complicated, even a bit annoyed.

No matter, she thought. If she kept trying, one day, she'd be by his side, and he'd like her and cherish her.

Alice's cheeks turned pink, and her palms got sweaty with nerves.

She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

As for Selena, it was better if she didn't show up tonight.

Alice didn't want Selena stealing her thunder.

Meanwhile, Selena had already made it to the hospital, her forehead sweaty from stress.

The doctor looked surprised to see her all dressed up for a party, but he couldn't deny she was stunning.

"Doctor, please check his hand. It probably needs stitches," Selena said urgently.

Raymond was in a foul mood. This was the first time he'd gotten hurt for someone else, especially a woman he barely knew.

He hadn't meant to block the knife; he just thought a scar on her back would look bad.

So his body moved before his brain, blocking the knife.

Seeing Selena so worried, her face changing colors, Raymond found it kind of funny.

It seemed like the first time he'd seen her like this since they met.

Even that first night when she woke up in bed, Selena was so calm he thought she'd never show any other emotions.

This thought brought Raymond a slight, almost hidden pleasure.

Selena's phone rang; it was William.

She gave the doctor a few instructions and, seeing the wound being stitched, went to the hallway to take the call.

"William, I'm really sorry. Raymond hurt his hand protecting me and is getting stitches at the hospital. We probably won't make it tonight," Selena said apologetically.

William, hearing that Raymond had finally stepped up and got hurt for Selena, didn't blame them but felt a bit excited.

Still, he had to play it cool. "Selena, are you hurt?" he asked.

As for Raymond, he was a man; a little injury was no big deal.

"I'm fine, but he's seriously hurt. It's all my fault," Selena said.

"You silly girl, he's your husband. It's his job to protect you. Raymond did well this time. Just take care of him there. There will be other chances to introduce you to everyone. Don't worry, and don't blame yourself."

Selena felt a warmth in her heart. She always knew William was good to her, so thinking about the secret deal she made with Raymond, her guilt deepened.

In the ward, the doctor had already stitched him up. Raymond heard his phone ring and saw it was William calling, feeling a bit annoyed.

If he didn't go to the banquet, William might think he was trying to dodge Selena!
