Chapter 1480 Value in Secrets

The island at night was dimly lit.

Selena walked a bit further, feeling someone tailing her.

She ducked into a hidden alley, the same route they had used to escape the night before.

She planned to retrace her steps, but as soon as she stepped out of the alley, a gun was pressed against her forehead.

She froze, and the voice behind her was icy.

"Come with us, Ms. Fair."

Selena thought the path was well-hidden and wouldn't be discovered, but she was found quickly.

Her gun was taken, and her hands were tied.

A black cloth was placed over her eyes, and she was led to a damp room.

Her hands were hung up, and someone started questioning her.

"Where is the Jellyfish Seal?"

Were they K's people?

It didn't seem like it. K had been toying with her for so long, he wouldn't directly ask such a question.

Besides, K's arrogance knew no bounds. He toyed with her, a cat tormenting its prey, always keeping his true intentions hidden.

But who else knew about the Jellyfish Seal and her connection to it?

She lowered her head, deep in thought, but her captors didn't give her the chance.

A whip lashed out.

When K had taken her, she had been whipped for a long time, followed by water torture. That pain was a hundred times worse than now.

She didn't find it unbearable now, just kept her head down, silently enduring.

The executioner whipped her ten times, expecting Selena to break, but she didn't say a word.

He grew furious, increased the force, and whipped her five more times.

"Where is the Jellyfish Seal? Just tell us, and we'll let you live!"

Selena smirked. If she told them, she would lose all value.

After twenty lashes, her clothes were torn, revealing her bruised skin.

The man frowned, left the room, and called Emilio.

"Mr. Blair, this woman's mouth is tight. Twenty lashes, and she still won't talk."

Most men would have passed out by now.

Selena remained conscious.

Emilio was surprised. He knew Selena had some strength, but her pain tolerance was impressive.

He realized that threatening someone like Selena with torture wasn't enough.

She would rather die than reveal any information.

Emilio leaned back, a smile in his eyes.

He knew what to do.

Two hours later, the door to the execution room opened again.

The cloth was removed from Selena's eyes, and she saw Emilio lying on the floor.

Emilio had no visible injuries but was unconscious.

Her voice cracked as she called out, "Emilio!"

Emilio was someone she had brought to the island; he couldn't be harmed here.

"Emilio!"

As soon as she spoke, the man with the whip threw a bucket of water on Emilio's face.

Emilio slowly woke up, panic appearing on his face when he saw Selena hanging.

"Selena, are you okay?"

Selena's lips were cracked, and after two hours of torture without water, she was burning with thirst.

"I'm fine."

"How can you be fine? Look at you."

Her clothes were in tatters.

Emilio knew his men well; these wounds were meant to maximize pain without killing her.

Selena couldn't die before they got the Jellyfish Seal.

"Emilio, I'm really fine. How did you end up here?"

"I... I was worried when you didn't come back, and Mario kept asking about you. I went out to find you, and then..."

Selena sighed. Now both of them were captured, leaving Mario, who knew nothing, in the tent.

Mario wouldn't stay put. If he wandered off, where would they find him?

"Selena, I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault."

As soon as she spoke, the man with the whip strode over and placed a knife against Emilio's neck.

"Selena, if you don't tell us where the Jellyfish Seal is, this man dies."

Selena's eyes widened as she saw the knife draw a thin line of blood across Emilio's neck.

She still had value to these people; she wouldn't die. But Emilio was useless to them.

If she didn't talk, Emilio would surely die.
