Chapter 282 What a Coincidence
Selena had already made it back to Ashbourne Manor. On the way, she called Lucas to let him know she wouldn't be coming over.
Lucas felt a bit bummed but quickly dialed up a woman he used to see.
Since Selena wasn't coming, he figured he might as well invite someone else. Dinner was already paid for, and he didn't want it to go to waste.
When Selena sat on her bed, she could still feel the ghost of lips on her skin, a sensation that seemed to reach her bones.
Other than that one night, she'd never been with a man like that.
She quickly filled the bathtub, unbuttoned her clothes, and saw the hickeys all over her skin. Her face turned bright red, and she quickly slipped into the tub.
After a relaxing soak, the itching sensation in her bones started to fade.
Selena got up, threw on her pajamas, and heard Fiona knocking on the door.
"Selena, you rushed inside. Are you okay?"
Seeing the marks on her neck, Selena knew she couldn't be seen like this, so she quickly wrapped a scarf around her neck.
She opened the door, and Fiona looked her over carefully, then sighed in relief.
"Good, you're okay. When you rushed upstairs, I thought something had happened. I was going to call you tonight anyway. Max suddenly started vomiting, and I don't know why. Should we take him to the vet."
Hearing that Max was in trouble, Selena quickly went to the back room.
Sure enough, Max was lying on the floor, looking miserable.
Selena was startled and immediately picked him up.
"I'll take Max to the pet hospital."
Fiona was too old to handle the trip.
Selena quickly changed clothes, put Max in the car, and headed to the largest pet hospital.
Ashbourne Manor was in a prime spot, surrounded by the priciest villas in Silver Bay City, so the pet hospital in the area catered to the wealthy.
Selena had never been there before, but in her rush, she took Max there.
As soon as she handed Max over to the doctor, a very expensive-looking Ragdoll cat was brought in. It had swallowed a piece of yarn, with the other half still hanging out, and no one dared to pull it.
Selena sat nearby, wearing a scarf around her neck, waiting for the doctor to come and explain Max's condition.
Ten minutes later, the doctor arrived.
"Miss, Max seems to have swallowed a pebble. This has happened to other dogs before. Luckily, Max only swallowed one. Last month, a Labrador came in after swallowing five pebbles."
"Does he need surgery?"
The doctor nodded and was about to speak when the door opened, and Olivia and Raymond walked in.
Olivia looked anxious, and the servant who had brought the Ragdoll cat trembled when she saw her.
"Miss."
Before she could finish, Olivia slapped her.
"How could you let this happen? Didn't I tell you to be more careful? Do you know how important this cat is to me?"
Olivia's face was red with anger. She didn't look at anyone else and quickly walked inside.
The servant, who had been slapped, stood in the corner with red eyes, not daring to speak.
Selena, sitting on the sofa, had already tensed up the moment she saw Raymond.
As Olivia hurried upstairs with the doctor to check on the cat, Raymond was left alone and slowly walked towards the sofa.
Selena felt the air grow heavy.
The sofa next to her sank as he sat down. He turned to look at her.
Selena forced a smile. "What a coincidence, Mr. Montague."
