Chapter 1616 Discovered Something Very Interesting

Atlas spent the whole afternoon wandering around outside. Just as he was about to head back to his room, he bumped into someone coming from the opposite direction.

He had a knack for recognizing people and instantly knew this was the same guy who had run into him before.

He'd been looking into all the recent deaths, and among them were six Stellaria individuals.

Stellaria folks were rare, but having six of them show up in a single month? That was off the charts.

He needed to let Zaid know about this and make sure he stayed on his toes.

But after the collision, he felt dizzy, like he'd inhaled something.

Raymond had drugged him with a powerful substance meant to keep him out of it for days.

What Raymond didn't know was that Atlas had grown up in a lab, making him immune to all sorts of drugs.

So, after just a few seconds of feeling woozy, Atlas snapped back to his senses and grabbed Raymond's arm.

Raymond quickly kicked him away and disappeared into a crowd of people in protective suits.

Atlas hit the ground, clutching his aching chest.

He got up right away, eyes blazing, and went to find Zaid. "Someone just drugged me. I was out of it for a few seconds, but he probably doesn't know I grew up in a lab and am immune to all drugs."

Zaid's eyes lit up a bit, and a smile tugged at his lips. "Did you find out anything else?"

"Yeah, Zaid. Lately, there've been a lot of deaths among Stellaria people. The research base usually has folks from Vistalia or Vesperia, but this month, six Stellaria people have died. It's really weird."

Zaid immediately figured out that Raymond was here.

He chuckled softly, his eyes crinkling with amusement.

Atlas, curious about what Zaid found funny, asked, "Did you think of something happy?"

Zaid raised his hand and patted Atlas's shoulder. "Yeah, a bit happy. I discovered something pretty interesting."

Seeing Zaid in a good mood lifted Atlas's spirits too.

Meanwhile, Raymond, after walking away, looked at the vial on his wrist.

This was a drug developed by Calla, designed to make people obedient. It shouldn't have failed.

But the first step had already failed, and Zaid mostly stayed in his room, with Atlas being the only one who could reach him.

Raymond leaned against a nearby wall, his eyes darkening. He had likely been exposed.

Zaid was so smart and meticulous that even the slightest clue would reveal Raymond's presence at the research base.

Just as Raymond was about to move forward, he felt the ground shake slightly.

Last time Calla mentioned it, he hadn't felt anything.

But now, a sense of unease shot up from his feet, sending chills down his spine.

He quickly returned to the core research lab, where Calla was already waiting. She had also felt the second tremor, her face pale.

Raymond placed the vial aside. "This drug doesn't work on Atlas. He seems to be immune to all toxins. Dr. Griffin, I felt the ground shake. This tectonic plate is likely to experience an earthquake soon. If your explosives detonate inside the base, it could trigger the earthquake. Should we give it a try?"

This decision was incredibly risky. In the face of nature, human power was insignificant.

Calla didn't immediately agree, but she knew the recent tremors were abnormal.

The earthquake could happen within a week or even a few days.

If they detonated the explosives tonight, the earthquake would be accompanied by landslides, arriving tonight.

Who would survive was uncertain.

The upper management of Arcturus had no preventive measures for earthquakes, and with the recent outbreak of diseases, if it happened, this area would almost become abandoned land.

Calla rubbed her temples, looking troubled, as no one could guarantee survival in the face of natural disasters.

But before she could agree, Zaid's voice suddenly echoed through the broadcast. "Next, we're going to play a game of hide and seek. If you're found, you will die."
