Chapter 117 She'd Had to Face His Anger

Selena grabbed the car door and eased herself inside.

Her knees and ankles were killing her, but she kept it cool and distant with Raymond.

"Thanks, Mr. Montague," she said, trying to sound casual.

She didn't want to bug him, so she just sat quietly in the corner.

There was a faint smell of blood in the air.

Raymond kept glancing at her knee from the corner of his eye.

It was still bleeding, with a nasty cut, and her ankle was all swollen and red.

Most women would be wincing in pain, but Selena just let out a small gasp and stared straight ahead.

The car zipped past where Mia was, and Raymond spotted her playing with Max right away.

He couldn't help but ask, "Where were you rushing off to just now?"

Just moments ago, Selena seemed super worried about the dog, so why'd she leave it with Mia and run off?

Plus, she hadn't answered his question yet. Was her place in that direction? But her apartment was pretty far from here.

Selena, knowing Raymond didn't know who she really was, stayed calm and stuck to her story. "This area's nice for a dog. I don't live there; I heard the villas are pricey. I rent nearby, but I'm moving soon."

Raymond squinted. Renting?

Selena's design fees were in the millions. Even with Silver Bay City's high prices, she shouldn't need to rent after a few years of work.

And she was married. With both of them working, they should've saved up for a down payment by now.

"Mr. Montague, I saw your car earlier. Didn't expect to see you here too." Selena smoothly changed the subject, turning the question back to Raymond.

"Yeah." Raymond didn't say much more. He didn't want to talk about Selena at Ashbourne Manor.

They got to the hospital. Selena opened the door and tried to get out, but her foot hurt too much. She tried a few times but couldn't stand.

It was a rare awkward moment for her. She took a deep breath, ignored her knee, and got out of the car.

The pain made her face twist, but she still stood by the window and smiled at Raymond. "Thanks, Mr. Montague."

Raymond, holding his documents, watched as Selena limped towards the hospital entrance.

He rubbed his temples, amused. No need to ask if she needed help; his time was valuable, and he wasn't usually this eager.

"John, drive," he commanded, his tone leaving no room for hesitation.

John, in the front seat, thought Raymond would help her, but hearing his command, he hit the gas.

Selena went into the hospital alone. After getting bandaged, she came out with a crutch, feeling a bit troubled.

She had a banquet to attend tonight, but how could she go like this?

William wanted to introduce her to some people tonight. Showing up like this would just embarrass him.

Selena regretted rushing back to see Raymond.

She called Fiona, asking her to send someone to pick up Max, while she wondered if she could quickly reduce the swelling in her ankle.

Since there was no bone injury, she should be able to manage in high heels.

Selena quickly took a cab back to Ashbourne Manor.

Fiona was shocked to see her like this.

Max was already locked in the back room, and Fiona was anxious. "Ms. Fair, aren't you supposed to go to the Montague Villa tonight?"

Selena said, "Fiona, get me some ice. I'll ice it for a couple of hours, then I'll start getting ready."

Fiona said nervously as she quickly got some ice. "Mr. Montague was really mad when he left. Ms. Fair, you two are going to live together; you shouldn't be so confrontational."

Selena could tell right away that Raymond was definitely angry. She'd kept him waiting twice without showing up.

She sighed, looking at her still swollen ankle.

At tonight's banquet, she couldn't keep avoiding it. She'd have to face Raymond's anger.
