Chapter 124 Subtle Insults

Could she really do anything for him? Be at his beck and call?

Three meals a day delivered to the Montague Group?

Raymond wasn't really into any of it.

But seeing Selena's slight embarrassment, he knew she was trying to make things right.

Watching Selena be so humble, Jacob at the door couldn't take it anymore.

Selena was a top student, a Silver Bay University grad. Even if Raymond was loaded, he couldn't treat her like this, right?

"Selena, what are you doing? You're a top-tier university grad, and you're gonna be his nanny?"

Hearing Jacob, Selena pressed her lips together.

Raymond wasn't interested in Selena's offer at first, but now, hearing Jacob, he casually rotated his injured wrist.

"You know the hotel I'm staying at," he said with an air of authority, a touch of provocation in his tone.

They had met there before, after all.

Selena remembered the awkwardness at the hotel, and her cheeks turned red.

Thinking back to that situation was still super embarrassing.

She didn't dare look at Raymond and instead lowered her head a bit.

"Yes," she whispered.

Raymond's voice was firm and commanding. "No need to deliver to the Montague Group. At nine tonight, bring it to my hotel."

Selena was a bit puzzled. Raymond had been staying at Ashbourne Manor recently to avoid William's surprise inspections. Why was he now going to a hotel?

But she had no place to ask, so she just nodded. "Got it, Mr. Montague."

Jacob gritted his teeth, pulled Selena behind him, and stared at Raymond.

But since Raymond was 6'1" and Jacob was only 5'9", he had to look up, losing half his momentum.

"I'm telling you, no matter what company you own, you can't treat Selena like this. She's the most accomplished person in our family, a Silver Bay University grad." Jacob said this proudly, like he was the accomplished one.

He continued, "You probably don't know, but I've seen many rich guys like you. Maybe you just bought your degree, unlike Selena, who earned hers through hard work."

Selena, hearing Jacob, kept pulling his arm, feeling super embarrassed.

Raymond raised an eyebrow, knowing Jacob's words weren't kind, and seeing his proud look, he glanced at Jacob. "And you are?"

Jacob proudly raised his head. "I'm her cousin."

Jacob was so proud, he said it very clearly.

"Quite fitting," Raymond said.

At that moment, Selena realized Raymond's insults were really subtle.

He was saying Jacob's brain matched Megan's sharp and mean demeanor.

She pulled Jacob back and looked at Raymond, trying to stay calm. "Mr. Montague, I'll repay the money within a week. Since you can't drive with your injured hand, should I take you back?"

"Okay," Raymond said, then walked out first.

The well-tailored suit made Raymond look even more imposing. Even after a small fight, his elegance stayed intact.

Jacob muttered a few curses under his breath but didn't dare leave Selena alone, so he followed behind them.

When they reached Raymond's car, Jacob saw the Rolls-Royce, his eyes widened, and his mouth dropped open. He uncontrollably grabbed Selena's shoulder.

"A Rolls-Royce?" he gasped, his voice filled with disbelief.

Selena slapped his hand away. "Wait for me at the toll station at the Silver Bay City highway exit. We must go back to Ridgefield tonight if you still care about Brian's well-being."

Jacob immediately fell silent and let go of her shoulder.

Selena got in the car and saw that John was already gone, so she naturally took on the role of the driver.

She almost instinctively drove towards Ashbourne Manor. As they passed familiar streets, Raymond frowned slightly. "How do you know I'm staying here tonight?"

Selena's heart skipped a beat, and her palms began to sweat.

She realized this was the road to Ashbourne Manor. Knowing Raymond lived there, she had almost instinctively driven that way.
