Chapter 119 Injured for Her

Suddenly, a bunch of rough-looking guys showed up next to Jacob and shoved him hard.

They dragged Jacob into a nearby alley.

Selena took a few steps, clutching a tree by the roadside, gasping for air.

Worried Jacob might get into trouble with those thugs, she gritted her teeth and followed.

She could hear the sounds of fists hitting flesh, feet connecting with bodies, and a string of curses coming from the dark alley.

"When are you gonna pay up? If you don't, I'll beat you to death today!"

"Jacob, you really made us hunt you down, and you still had the nerve to disappear."

Selena had just reached the alley entrance when she heard those voices.

She quickly called the cops, worried Jacob might actually get beaten to death, and shouted, "Stop!"

The thugs paused and turned to see Selena in her dress. One of them whistled and started walking closer.

"Jacob, when did you meet such a beauty?"

Jacob was curled up, trying to protect his head. When he looked up and saw Selena, a flash of anxiety crossed his eyes. "Selena?"

Jacob's voice was shaky from the pain. He tried to stand, but the kicks had broken a few of his ribs, making it hard to find any strength.

Selena was exasperated with Jacob. At twenty-eight, he still didn't have a decent job and had ended up begging in Silver Bay City!

She was both angry and worried, thinking about how heartbroken Brian and Erin would be if they knew.

But seeing the thugs approaching, she slowly backed away.

Her leg was still hurting, and she was in high heels. As she stepped back, her heel caught on the raised tactile paving, causing her to fall backward.

'Great, now I probably can't walk at all,' Selena thought.

But the expected pain didn't come. Instead, she felt an arm around her waist, and a man's breath was somewhat cold.

Selena looked up slightly and saw Raymond's smooth jawline.

The familiar scent made her freeze. After standing up straight, she quickly pulled away.

"Mr. Montague," Selena exclaimed in surprise, noticing Raymond's car parked not far away.

Her dress was too eye-catching; it was hard not to attract attention.

Selena then realized she had walked quite a distance from where she had gotten out of the car and could no longer see her vehicle.

Raymond's brow furrowed. He had seen Selena walking by the roadside in a dress, following a few thugs. What was she trying to do?

His expression was indifferent, his features sharp and defined, with no hint of a smile, making him seem unapproachable.

Seeing Selena stand firm and quickly pull away, his brow furrowed slightly.

Raymond hadn't intended to meddle, but seeing her following a few thugs and dressed so conspicuously...

His gaze fell on her dress. She wore light makeup today, her eyes looked even clearer, her waist was very slim, and the exposed skin was very noticeable.

A ripple appeared in his eyes, and Raymond looked away.

"Why are you dressed like this and coming here?" he asked.

Selena was about to explain when the thugs surrounded them.

"That's not right, bringing your man to meet us?" one of the thugs sneered.

The thugs' eyes roamed over Selena's body without restraint. As they got closer, they realized how beautiful she was, more beautiful than any woman they had ever seen.

Selena's face darkened as she looked at Jacob, who was still dragging his feet not far away, feeling very angry.

The thugs didn't waste any time and reached out to touch her, but their hand was intercepted mid-air by Raymond.

Raymond's moves were clean and swift. He twisted the thug's hand and kicked him away.

"Mr. Montague, be careful," Selena called out.

There were five thugs, and Raymond was alone. All Selena could do was protect herself.

But just a few seconds after she spoke, she saw all the thugs lying on the ground, groaning in pain.

Raymond hadn't even ruffled a hair, showing how easily he had handled them.

Selena was a bit stunned but quickly walked over to Jacob.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Just as she finished speaking, she saw a look of terror flash in Jacob's eyes, followed by the sound of a knife piercing flesh.

Selena turned to see a knife stabbed into Raymond's hand, which was shielding her back. Clearly, the knife was meant for her.

The tip of the knife had already pierced through his hand, and blood was flowing down, looking quite horrifying.
