Chapter 376 Are You Sure You Want to Question Me?
Selena just glanced at the chair next to him. "You can go back and wait for news. When the time comes, we'll let you know."
Bert sneered, thinking Selena was still too young to know what Apex Holdings Group had been up to. Sure, they made money in shady ways, but it was all technically legal.
After all, both parties signed the contract.
But he couldn't help but be drawn to Selena's looks and attitude.
"For your sake, I'll head out now. If you have time, maybe I can take you to dinner. We can talk business." He grinned and patted his paunch. "Alright, I'm off."
As soon as he left, the board members started buzzing.
"Where's your dad? Where did he go?"
"Such a big issue, and he doesn't show up. It's really disappointing."
Everyone was talking over each other, eager to criticize James.
Selena slammed the documents on the table, scattering them with a loud thud.
Everyone went quiet for a moment but then got riled up again. What was Selena thinking?
A girl in her twenties, did she really think she could control them?
Just as they were about to speak, Selena took the main seat.
Selena rounded on them, "Mr. Brown, Mr. Davis, the house you bought two years ago, and some personal expenses of others here, have all been charged to the company account. Care to explain why?"
After a slight pause, she said scathingly, "The land the Fair family invested in three years ago, with a total investment of thirty million dollars, was broken down into smaller amounts, each just below my father's approval threshold. Can the involved board members explain why?"
Then she quickly added, "This crisis the Fair family is facing, which board members decided on it? Now that there's trouble, you want my father to handle it? Where in the world is there such a good deal?"
Selena's tone was casual, but her sharp gaze swept over everyone.
Those who met her eyes felt a pang of guilt.
Seeing the rest in silence, Selena lashed out again, "Over the years, you've gained a lot from the company. My father has always pretended not to know, but if I really wanted to pursue it, more than half of you here would end up in jail. Now, think carefully about your words. Are you sure you want to question me?"
Selena had long told James that many of the old employees in the company were no longer valuable and should be given a sum of money and dismissed early.
But James, being sentimental, hadn't fired a single one.
With such a group in the company, how could it possibly develop well?
James was indecisive and sentimental, not fit to be the CEO of a large company.
Selena lightly tapped her fingers on the table. "My father is still in the hospital and will wake up in a few days. During this time, I don't want to hear any negative comments about the company. Otherwise, the evidence I have is enough to send you to jail."
Everyone turned pale with fear and didn't dare to speak.
Selena stood up, her tone cold. "Take a look at the documents. Also, if I find out anyone is secretly selling your shares, I won't be kind."
Selling the Fair family's shares at this time would give the rival company an opportunity.
If the rival company bought enough shares, by the time James returned to the company, he might no longer be the CEO.
Moreover, selling shares now would definitely drive down the price, making James's shares worthless.
After Selena left, everyone in the conference room wiped their sweat.
