Chapter 356 None of My Business
After done with his work, he finally realized Selena wasn't planning to call him tonight.
He thought, "Time to wash up and hit the sack."
The next morning, he rang up Mia and asked her to come pick up Max.
Mia was a bit taken aback.
"Raymond, so you did see my messages. You found Mia pretty quick."
When she got to Ashbourne Manor, she was still chatting away, "By the way, why didn't you return him yourself? Penny would probably be thrilled."
Raymond was already in the foyer, looking sharp in his tailored suit. He adjusted his cufflinks and said coolly, "None of my business."
Mia was stunned and lowered her head, thinking, 'You slept with her, how can you say that?'
Raymond didn't look like the playboy type at all.
He had already opened the door and was about to get into the car.
Mia, holding Max, followed closely behind. "Can you give me a ride? I drove here myself and don't want to leave Max in the back. If anything happens, I can't explain it to Penny."
Raymond frowned and shut the car door coldly. "I'm allergic to dog hair."
Mia knew that, but since he had taken Max in, he must be able to tolerate Max's hair.
Plus, some allergies were psychological.
"Raymond, if I return Max myself, she'll think I found him. Should I mention you to her?" Mia never missed a chance to play matchmaker.
"No need." Raymond closed the car window, staying cold as ever.
Mia touched her nose, recalling the passionate sounds she had heard that night, and she now really doubted if she had imagined it.
She called Selena and drove to Rose Garden.
Selena was cleaning the house and quickly went downstairs to get Max.
Max excitedly jumped on her, wagging his tail.
Mia had a class at noon, so she didn't stay long. As she was leaving, she said, "Raymond found the dog, but he's busy, so he didn't bring him himself. Don't be sad. Just try a little harder, and Raymond will definitely care about you."
Selena was puzzled. Why should she try to make Raymond care?
Mia silently gave her a thumbs-up.
Then the car drove away.
Selena, holding Max, stood there puzzled.
When she brought Max back upstairs, she ran into Lillian, who was about to leave.
Lillian rolled her eyes and jumped back when she saw Max. "Pets are so dirty. Keep its mouth shut. If it barks at night, I'll definitely report to the property management."
Selena glanced at Lillian, who was sporting a designer-brand outfit and a branded bag, probably all bought by Carter.
Noticing Selena's gaze, Lillian deliberately raised her bag higher. "Not bad, over $7,000."
Selena smirked and ignored her, opening her door and going inside.
Lillian was furious, wondering if her previous attempt to stir up trouble had caused any conflict between Olivia and Selena. She couldn't stand Selena's pretentious aloofness!
All the way to the Montague Group, Lillian was still fuming, brooding on the possibility of Selena carrying such an expensive bag in the future, which made her uncomfortable.
At work, she couldn't help but gossip with her colleagues.
"By the way, did you know that Mr. Montague's designer, when designing a villa for someone, messed around with the owner and got scolded by the wife at the studio?"
"Really?"
"Of course, it's true. I'm with Carter, and he's well-informed."
Lillian looked confident, but her colleagues suddenly fell silent, which prompted her to raise her voice. "Don't you believe me? I know a lot of rich kids now, okay? This kind of thing spreads quickly. I heard she became Raymond's designer because..."
Before she could finish, a cold male voice interrupted. "Within half an hour, go get your resignation letter."
Lillian froze, turning to see Raymond and John standing behind her.
