Chapter 1500 Mario is Getting Married

Raymond hadn't originally planned to contact the outside world—arranging such communication would be far too risky. But after witnessing Emilio's willingness to help conceal his identity, he immediately reconsidered. Now that his people had infiltrated the island, his mission would proceed far more smoothly.

Neither man touched the food during their half-hour meal, sitting in contemplative silence until servants arrived to escort them to their respective quarters. Parker and Yosef attempted to engage Emilio in further conversation, but he dismissed them, claiming exhaustion.

As Raymond passed Selena's door, he glanced inside. The windows had been reinforced and the curtains drawn tight, obscuring any view of the interior. He had barely settled into his own room when the sound of drums and gongs erupted outside, followed shortly by a knock at his door.

A servant stood in the hallway, bearing a tray of delicacies. "Sir, there's to be a great celebration. Mr. Schmidt requests that all guests join the feast."

"What's the occasion?"

"Mr. Torres is getting married."

Mario? Married? Raymond's mind raced. To whom—one of the Schmidt family's eligible daughters? But knowing Mario's character, would he really settle such a momentous personal matter on this isolated island? An unsettling thought crept into Raymond's mind, though he quickly dismissed it. Mario wouldn't stoop to such depths.

While Mario's true motives remained unclear, their past interactions suggested he wouldn't force Selena into marriage. Selena's pregnancy was no secret, and Mario's pride would never allow him to claim another man's child.

Raymond stared at the untouched food in his hands, his brow furrowed in concern.

Meanwhile, Emilio approached the locked room, his mask concealing his expression as he questioned the Schmidt family guards.

"Who's being held inside?"

"Mr. Torres's beloved. She suffers from mental instability—without confinement, she'd wander off and become lost."

"So Mario intends to marry her?"

"Yes, sir."

Emilio's certainty crystallized instantly—Selena was imprisoned within. He summoned Parker, his voice cutting through the air like ice.

"Open the door."

"Mr. Blair, perhaps—"

"Open it. Now."

Parker dared not defy him. Every family head knew of the formidable force backing Emilio. Once, a mid-tier family had challenged his authority and been completely annihilated within an hour, leaving no trace or witness. That mysterious power had emerged from nowhere like shadows from the earth, and since that demonstration, no one dared cross Emilio again.

As the door swung open, Emilio stepped inside, immediately detecting a cloying sweetness in the air—the unmistakable scent of sedatives. On the bed lay a woman, hands folded peacefully across her chest as if in eternal slumber. It was indeed Selena.

Emilio dismissed his entourage with a wave. "Leave us."

Parker hesitated, torn between his fear of Emilio and his reluctance to anger Mario—the man who could reshape the Schmidt family's destiny.

"Mr. Schmidt, I'll emerge in five minutes."

Five minutes posed no threat, and Parker reluctantly agreed. Once alone, Emilio bent over Selena's still form. Her eyes suddenly opened, but she remained motionless, staring blankly at the ceiling like a broken doll. When Emilio reached for her arm, he found her limbs rigid and unresponsive.

He lowered his voice to barely above a whisper. "Ms. Fair?"

Selena didn't respond. When Emilio reached for her arm, he found it rigid—completely motionless, as if frozen in place.
