Chapter 256 Running Wildly Inside the Body Without Reason
Her mind was a total blank; she didn't even notice when Raymond had left.
The door clicked shut, leaving just a hint of his cool scent hanging in the air.
Selena felt like a zombie, glancing down to see herself in a spaghetti-strap nightgown.
It was so thin, almost see-through under the light.
The way it clung to her was almost... inviting.
In a flash, she dashed back to the bedroom and threw on a jacket, but the heat in her body wouldn't go away.
This time, Selena really got what it meant to be mortified.
No wonder Raymond thought what he did; what kind of woman wears something like that, chats casually, and then sees a guy out?
She covered her face, replaying Raymond's exact words in her head.
"I've always suspected you were trying to seduce me."
Selena thought back to Ridgefield, where she had draped a towel over herself to apply medicine to him.
All these moments added up; any regular guy would've made a move by now.
Selena blushed with embarrassment, curling up and wishing she could just jump out of the hotel window.
Even the spot on her waist where Raymond had just held her felt like it was still tingling, irrationally spreading through her body.
She sighed, picked up her phone, and saw several messages from Erin, all apologies.
The mood was totally killed because of this.
She didn't read the messages and deleted them right away.
Selena sat back on the sofa, slowly ate a few more bites, and only after feeling comfortable did she change clothes, still planning to go to the hospital.
After four more days at the hospital, the doctor finally told her that James had been moved to a regular ward.
Selena didn't care about anything else. And she hadn't seen Raymond in those four days, so the events of that night gradually faded from her mind.
This time, Shelley came with her to the hospital, with Shelley's two bodyguards always on watch.
Shelley linked arms with Selena.
"Don't worry, I've got them watching closely; no one can get in."
Selena nodded, feeling rejuvenated now that her period was over.
Shelley had the family maid make some soup. "To boost your health. You're too scared of Raymond to go back to Ashbourne Manor. Otherwise, they could make you some soup there. Is he really that scary?"
Selena was too embarrassed to talk about that night. As they entered the lobby, they saw Philip standing not far away.
Philip was holding a bouquet, smelling them with a gentle expression.
To Shelley, Philip had always been a pure young man.
Shelley happily nudged Selena with her shoulder. "My Philip is so thoughtful, coming all the way here with flowers."
Shelley excitedly ran over and hugged Philip around the waist.
"Philip!"
The flowers in Philip's hands fell to the ground as he turned and hugged Shelley tightly. "Shelley?"
His eyes were full of surprise. "I was just looking for you on the first floor and couldn't find you."
Shelley looked up with a grin. "Didn't I tell you I was with Selena? We didn't come that early. Why did you buy flowers? It's a waste of money."
Philip worked several jobs and was usually very frugal. But he never skimped when it came to Shelley.
Shelley felt sorry for him, often thinking she should just tell him the truth.
"These flowers must have been expensive. With that money, we could have had a big meal."
Shelley picked up the flowers from the ground, not noticing the complex look in Philip's eyes.
From a distance, Selena watched the handsome couple with the flowers and found it amusing.
Was Shelley really planning to spend her life with this poor boy, Philip?
Shelley pulled Philip over, holding the flowers, her smile brighter than the blooms.
Only around Philip did she act this way; usually, she was carefree and bold.
"Selena, let's have Philip come up with us."
Selena had no reason to refuse, so they got into the elevator together.
In the elevator, Philip sent a message to Lucas, asking him to buy another bouquet and deliver it to the ward.
