Chapter 190 A Bit Tipsy

The other side of the presidential suite was empty now; it was just the two of them left on this floor.

The overhead lights made Selena's skin look amazing, her eyes practically glowing.

Selena cut to the chase, "I need to talk to you, Mr. Montague. Can I come in and sit for a bit?"

Raymond raised an eyebrow. Here she was, waiting at his hotel room door late at night, and she had even painted his portrait before.

He squinted, thinking he should probably say no, wanting to keep some distance between them.

Selena was worried he'd refuse, and this wasn't something she could explain quickly. Grace had a big misunderstanding, and she needed to clear things up.

Raymond took out his room card and swiped it to open the door.

Selena followed him, catching the scent of his cool woody cologne mixed with a faint hint of alcohol.

The space felt smaller, and she suddenly realized that coming to him like this might not be the best idea.

But then her phone rang again, another call from a business partner.

On the way here, Selena had already taken two calls, all about canceled orders.

All the prep work she had done, the early talks with suppliers, now almost all of them had backed out.

And her studio was taking a big hit too.

After all, it was Grace who made the move. Not only was she part of the Montague Family, but she also had her own connections in the business world, which was why she managed Carter so strictly.

Selena sat down on the sofa, holding a thermos.

Raymond took off his suit jacket and casually unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt, showing his collarbone.

Raymond always had a way of looking effortlessly stunning.

Selena watched, thinking about that painting and how she could add a bit more detail.

"Alright, what’s up?" Raymond slowly rolled up his sleeves, showing his lean wrist.

He sat across from her, looking elegant and relaxed.

The brightest lamp in the room wasn’t on, and the dim lighting, mixed with the scent of alcohol, made Selena feel a bit tipsy.

It was like she was the one who had been drinking.

Raymond didn’t get a response from Selena and noticed her gaze lingering on his wrist with a hint of appreciation. "Penny?"

Selena snapped back to reality and placed the thermos on the table.

"Mr. Montague, is your hand all healed up?" She was talking about the injury on Raymond’s hand.

"Just get to the point." Raymond wasn’t into these polite exchanges.

Being cut off like that made Selena feel a bit awkward, so she cleared her throat before saying, "Ms. Montague seems to have a misunderstanding about me. Mr. Montague, you should know that I was once asked by Mr. Ashford to pretend to be his girlfriend. Now that Mr. Ashford has a new girlfriend, Ms. Montague thinks I have ulterior motives, and..."

At this point, Selena paused, her eyes on Raymond’s face.

He showed no expression, probably feeling the effects of the alcohol, his neck slightly tilted, and his sexy Adam’s apple moving up and down.

Selena then continued, "And Ms. Montague probably knows about the one-time thing between you and me. I didn’t tell her, but she must have found out. So she blocked all my business deals and affected my studio. I thought about asking Mr. Ashford for help, but considering his respect for Ms. Montague, I gave up and decided to come to you."

Thinking back to that night, even though both of them were usually pretty reserved, the atmosphere now made them feel a bit of a subtle connection.

After Selena finished talking, she sat quietly, waiting for Raymond’s response.

However, Raymond had spent the whole day in meetings, followed by social gatherings in the evening, and had been under constant pressure from William lately. Now, in the quiet, he felt a bit tipsy.

Selena sat for half an hour without hearing him speak.

Selena said, "Mr. Montague?"
