Chapter 150 Another Lie
Selena was out of it and couldn't quite catch what Raymond was saying.
Raymond, losing his patience, saw her phone slip from her hand and picked it up. But it was locked and needed her fingerprint to open.
He grabbed Selena's hand, unlocked the phone with her fingerprint, and started scrolling through her contacts.
There were tons of contacts in her phone, and since this was her work phone, Raymond had no clue she had another one.
After scrolling for a bit, he didn't find anyone labeled as "husband."
Raymond frowned, confused.
Selena's contact list was super organized; if it was a client, there'd be a company note next to it.
He kept scrolling and still didn't see any contact labeled as "husband."
But he did see his own number, labeled as Mr. Montague, which was pretty straightforward.
For some reason, that bugged him. He flipped through the phone a bit more but found nothing useful.
How weird was it that a married woman didn't even have her husband's number saved?
Raymond told John to drive to the hospital. He'd done all he could; the hospital would have to take it from here.
This time, Selena sat quietly. The last encounter was like a bad dream, too embarrassing. She'd rather let the blood on her palm dry up than lean towards Raymond again.
Her hands were clenched tight, her teeth biting her lip, and sweat was forming on her forehead.
She was so tense, her body was shaking a bit.
Meanwhile, Raymond had already put the phone down and leaned back, looking calm and collected.
Even though he had just taken action, he still looked dignified.
As they got closer to the hospital, she realized it was the same one where James was.
Thinking about their last awkward parting, Selena frowned, hoping not to run into James.
Selena had been pretty unlucky lately, making frequent trips to the hospital.
But the next second, she saw James in the distance, being helped out of the lobby.
James was in the late stages of liver cancer and shouldn't be discharged now, especially not at this time.
James hadn't even called Selena.
In front of James stood Alice and Nick, each supporting him on one side, looking very caring.
Selena blinked, thinking her tired mind was playing tricks on her.
But as the car got closer, she saw everything clearly.
Nick was being super attentive, and James had a smile on his face. They looked like a happy family.
Selena had asked the hospital to keep James's condition a secret and said only she could handle the discharge. But now, no one had informed her.
If someone else handled the discharge, they'd surely find out about James's condition. What were they up to taking him out now?
Selena couldn't think too deeply about it. She had felt hot just a moment ago, but now she felt a bit cold.
Raymond also saw the people at the entrance and raised an eyebrow slightly.
Selena had never really stood out to him, and seeing James now, he felt nothing. He had no interest in getting out of the car to say hello.
"You can get out now," Raymond urged Selena, but she straightened her back and stared unblinkingly at those people.
"Do you know them?" Raymond asked in a detached tone, and seeing a hint of clarity returning to her, he inwardly sighed in relief.
Selena wanted to say no but realized it would be another lie, and she'd have to tell countless more lies to cover it up. So she pretended not to hear.
Selena definitely couldn't get out now, or she'd have to face those people directly.
It would be awkward for both sides.
