Chapter 359 This is Simply His Chance to Shine
"Nick's in a coma, James. You gotta back me up here. This is all Selena's doing. Poor Nick. Look at these messages on his phone. He went to meet her, and his car was tailing hers. Both cars were driving all weird." Beatrice was crying, but she was also sneaking glances at James to see how he was reacting.
When James didn't yell at her or kick her out, she felt a cold smile forming inside.
'Perfect, even the God is on my side!' she thought.
"James, Nick's my only son. How am I supposed to go on like this? I might as well just die!" She made a dramatic move towards the wall, and James rushed to stop her, but it pulled on his wounds, making him wince in pain.
Luckily, a nurse nearby grabbed Beatrice before she could hurt herself.
Beatrice kept sobbing, filling the whole room with her cries.
James started coughing hard, like he was about to hack up a lung.
Selena quickly patted his back and heard his raspy voice. "Is Nick really in a coma?"
"Yes."
In the next second, James slapped Selena across the face.
He was weak from just waking up, so it didn't hurt much, but to Selena, it felt like being smacked by a ton of bricks.
James queried, "Selena, did you really set this up?"
Selena explained truthfully, "Dad, you have no idea. Nick was trying to force me at the company. Why do you think his car was chasing mine? He was desperate to ruin me. What's wrong with me trying to get away? If he had just stopped, none of this would have happened!"
Beatrice screamed and lunged at Selena. "You bitch! You're still making excuses. You and your mother are both trash!"
Both James and Selena's faces darkened at her words.
Realizing she had crossed a line, Beatrice quickly tried to backtrack. "James, it's not like Selena said. Nick always treated her like a sister. He'd never do something like that."
Selena took a deep breath, clearly fed up with her nonsense. "Fine, then explain why he was chasing me like a maniac."
Beatrice spluttered, "It must be because you seduced him. Selena, you're shameless, leading Nick on like that."
Selena sneered, seeing James still on the fence. She felt drained and lowered her eyes. "Dad, I haven't been sleeping well. I'm going home."
Beatrice panicked and lunged at her again. "You put Nick in a coma, and now you want to leave? Bitch! I'll kill you!"
Selena finally snapped and slapped Beatrice hard.
The slap was sharp and loud, making Beatrice stumble back a few steps, blood trickling from her mouth.
She touched her cheek, staring at Selena in shock.
James, sitting on the bed, narrowed his eyes and grabbed a water cup, throwing it at Selena. "You ungrateful brat!"
The cup hit Selena's chest, spilling water all over her.
Selena didn't say anything, just looked at James, feeling like words were useless.
James suddenly felt a wave of panic, like he was going to regret this forever.
Selena stormed out and bumped into Alice coming in.
With Selena all wet and upset in sight, a glint of satisfaction flashed in Alice's eyes.
But what made her happiest was that she didn't have to move out of the Fair family house!
Selena walked out of the hospital, knowing she was too emotional to drive. She just kept walking along the road.
As she walked, tears started streaming down her face. She quickly sat on a nearby bench, wiping her tears with her fingers.
It was noon, the sun was blazing, and she sat there, looking so vulnerable.
Raymond watched from his car, instinctively grabbing a tissue and an umbrella from his Rolls-Royce.
Last time, Selena had broken his umbrella, and the manufacturer had sent a new one overnight.
He was about to go to her when he saw Lucas reach her first.
Lucas had been at the hospital to get medicine for his sister and didn't expect to run into Selena. This was his chance to make a good impression.
Seeing this, Raymond paused and stayed put.
